FINALLY! It's a Sandy food cart pod! There's about 6 carts that offer gyros, Bbq (Swine Dining) , mac and cheese fare/ bubble teas (Melt It!) , Mexican, crepes/smoothies/fish n' chips (Crepes plus) and a breakfast cart (In the Hood Breakfast).
I got the fish n' chips ($11.50 for 3 pieces of breaded Icelandic cod) and a watermelon smoothie for my daughter ($5 or $4 if you buy three or more) from Crepes Plus. First, Crepes Plus has signage all over claiming their fish n' chips are "The best in town!", so if you're claiming something as the best, Ima gonna put it to the test!
And are they? Well, for Sandy Oregon, yeah I don't have anything to compare them to, so they would be "the best in town if referring to Sandy". If we're saying the best in the Portland area? No, I wouldn't say they're THAT good. But they are good... just different. Not bad different, just not your "standard" fish n' chips. The breading is soft, even after being fried. Almost... pillowy. Like a fish hush puppie. So if you're one those people who would exclaim "THIS ISN'T TRADITIONAL FISH N' CHIPS!" it might not be your bag. For the rest of us willing to try something unique or a bit different, give it a shot! And there was PLENTY of fish in each piece. I almost couldn't finish all three pieces. The flavor was great when combined with their homemade tartar sauce.
Also, the chips were a MOUNTAIN of fresh cut fries. My daughters, wife and I plowed through them on the way home. So, for $11.50, it's an exceptional value and good food.
Finally, the watermelon smoothie was sweet and delicious and actually tasted like watermelon! I'm anxious to try some of the other flavors.
In regard to the crepes, we didn't partake, but I was eyeballing some folks who did (sweet and savory) and they looked pretty good. I'll definitely will be back to try more of their fares and fish n' chips if I've...
Read moreBreakfast Burrito in the Northwest! I can’t say enough great things about this food truck! The breakfast burrito is hands-down the best in the Northwest, and I personally love adding their delicious gravy on top—it's a game-changer. They offer a variety of breakfast items that are perfect for anyone craving high-quality, satisfying meals. Even though they serve burritos and other items that might seem like they're leaning toward Mexican cuisine, the menu really caters to American tastes with an awesome, approachable twist. I've been supporting this spot for a while, and the owner is just amazing. She's poured her heart into building this brand, and you can really feel that in every bite. The food is always fresh and well-prepared, and I love stopping by whenever I can. If you’re heading up to Mt. Hood or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. Their food is consistently great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and you can tell they care about their customers. I know they’ve got what it takes to go even further—both in terms of their food and their brand. So, if you’re looking for an incredible breakfast to kick-start your day, this is the spot! What do you think? Are you...
Read moreWould not order spaghetti from Bobatastic again. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and a house salad. The spaghetti was made yesterday (date was taped to container)--this may be the norm. It was oversalted (why add course sea salt to spaghetti??) and one of the meatballs was not cooked all the way! Luckily that one had an off flavor, so when I bit it in half and spit it out I could see that the middle was still visibly pink. In addition, the spaghetti noodles were not strained well and there was water at the bottom of the container, ruining what could have been more good bites of noodles. Two stars because the house salad was good. However there was only one dressing option-- a very salty ranch, and there were a few wilted spring mix pieces that I picked out. Otherwise, I liked it because it came with croutons, cherry tomatoes and a little shredded cheese.
Theresa's home cooking makes much better spaghetti. I may go back to Bobatastic to try a poke salad or one of the...
