Mellow Mushroom Sanford — Restaurant in Sanford

This was my first time that I have ever been here, and I would defently recommend anyone and everyone to go try out Mellow Mushroom! It was great! We had a group of us (6 adults, and a baby), and we all fit in one of their big booths right to the left of the front door, and next to the bar. Plenty of room for all of us. So don't worry if you have a group that size. Let me mention how great our waiter was. .. His name was Uryan (Something like that, and not sure of the spelling), but he was great! Very attentive in our needs and always refilling our drinks, and a very nice guy. Always smiling! :o) Now for the food. .. Yummy Yummy, in my tummy! And I mean this too. We had a few Ceasar salads, good. Also these yummy garlic parm pretzels for appetizer, soooo good! They also have other flavors, even desert ones. I will try those next time. Now for the pizza. One of the best pizza places I've ever eaten at. We had 2 large pizzas, and split one of them into two types. We had half a buffalo chicken and half a house pizza, and one whole large with feta, chicken, unions, and red peppers. They were all very, very good! Now we didn't get desert, but it looked really good. We were too full by that time. Next time I will get the one with the peanut butter cookie and have it sundae style. I can't wait! Also they have really cool shirts for sale, and I will be getting one of them next time also. So cool! Now for an end note, If you go to Groupon they may have a deal for you. We used are deal from Groupon and it worked great and saved us money off our total bill. So if you would like to try this place, go there first to see if they still have the deal going on, or keep an eye out and they may have it again later on. Starting off we were greeted well from the hostess with a nice welcome and a smile. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. Our waiter came by fairly quickly to ask for our drink orders and we actually had our dinner orders ready and he took everything down accurately.

Food came in an appropriate amount of time, no long wait. We ordered all small 10" pizzas: Pepperoni traditional crust Kosmic Karma thin crust Mighty Meaty without ham traditional crust Funky Q Chicken traditional crust

All came out together and cooked well. Pizza is very subjective. Our experience:

The thin crust doesn't mean crispy. It was just thinner. If you order thinking it will be crispy, you may want to verify. The Kosmic Karma was very limp on the thin crust so maybe better to order on traditional crust for that selection.

The Mighty Meaty was good and came without ham as requested.

The pepperoni pizza was tasty but maybe too much sauce as everything just slid off the crust or was pulled off as you bite the slice. It was better using a fork and knife on the plate.

The Funky Q Chicken was a little too greasy but not dripping grease.

They don't have straight oregano to sprinkle on the pizza (they offer "Italian seasoning").

The waiter did ask us how everything was within 5 minutes of getting the food.

The receipt for the dinner calculated tip correctly on the subtotal and not on tax! Congrats.

When leaving the manager thanked us for coming as did another server passing by us. All staff seemed very welcoming.

This used to be considered a very expensive pizza place but now they are really no different than everyone else as restaurant prices have gone way up and I believe they have kept their pricing...

Mellow Mushroom is well-known for its delicious pizzas and fresh salads, a favorite spot for my wife and me over the years. We have always appreciated their unique flavors and laid-back atmosphere, but our most recent dine-in experience on a not so busy Friday night left much to be desired due to service issues.

In terms of overall satisfaction, I would rate our experience as a 3 out of 5. While the food itself was still enjoyable, the lack of attention from our server overshadowed it. The standout feature of Mellow Mushroom has always been their creative pizzas—hot, crispy crust topped with a variety of fresh ingredients. This time, however, despite our request for our pizza to be cooked a bit longer for extra crispness, it arrived a bit doughy not crispy at all . Unfortunately, there was no follow-up from our server to check on our meal or ask if everything was satisfactory.

Customer service is a critical aspect of any dining experience, and the service we received fell short. Our server, a young lady with long hair, seemed distracted and more interested in chatting with her coworkers than attending to us. Our drinks went unrefilled for lengthy periods, and there was a noticeable absence of managerial oversight, which could have prompted better service from the staff.

Overall, while we genuinely enjoyed the food, it's hard to overlook the lack of attentiveness that affected our experience. Additionally, for the management team at Mellow Mushroom, having a manager visible could help ensure that all guests receive the care...
