I ate here years ago and the food was pretty Lame. I figured I would try it again. I had a Chile Relleno , an enchilada with rice and beans. When I got the food even before I am tasted it I was thinking this isn't gonna be good. The beans are like the worst refried beans. I think I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant. Taste like you emptied a can sprinkle some cheese on it and microwaved it they're awful. The rice was mediocre. Chile Rellenos was mediocre not very good and it was tiny. We go to Mi Mexico in Deland, which is about half the price of this place and the food is like good in the chili Rellenos so probably four times bigger than the ones here. They actually have some flavor. The enchilada was mediocre to wasn't really very good. I had a large Dos Equis Amber that was 7.50 that was good. I've lived in Sanford a long time and I'm not impressed with many restaurants here this is another one that is not very good. It's pretty lame. I will probably never go back here unless someone else takes it over. The service is really good. The server was very nice and the atmosphere is nice. The chips and salsa were these red whiten green chips that were cold that we're kind of mediocre to. they weren't very good. It wouldn't be a bad place to sit at the bar and have a margarita. I'm not being sarcastic I would rather eat a patio Mexican TV dinner or Taco Bell then this stuff. I hate to say it as bad as Taco Bell is it's exponentially better than this...
Read moreI usually have a great experience when I come here and the customer service is normally good! The employees are really nice and the food is delicious, good drinks but this particular time I sat down to eat with my friend, The service was HORRIBLE! The waiter told us that all the tacos meals come with rice and beans which they do because its on the menu and I have ate here several times in the past but once I got my chicken street tacos the waiter said I just found out it doesn’t come with rice and beans. So they wanted me to pay extra, so I politely showed him on the menu then he went and got my friend and I our rice and beans. He apologized and said its a new cook. I thought to myself you must be new to because you don’t know anything. My friend ordered Barria tacos, we had to asked for the onion and mushrooms soup that is suppose to come with the tacos. I had to asked for limes and all the sauces it usaully comes with. I was highly disappointed and irritated. I didn’t leave a tip. The workers need more training and needs to learn the menu. That was the worst service and experience I ever...
Read moreI’ve been wanting to try El Sol for a couple years, constantly driving past it. The exterior always seemed lackluster and a bit dull, so I never went out of my way to go. Well, I finally tried it and it was just ok. It’s what I call an American-Mexican spot. It’s not authentic Mexican cuisine, and that’s ok. The food and service was just ok but the interior was a pleasant surprise. The first thing I noticed was the bar. It was pretty large and had that nice blue-light strip going on. The décor was much lively that I thought it would be. The complementary chips and salsa was a bit disappointing. The chips were ok but the salsa was not spicy and very watery. I ordered the lunch special #6; Cheese quesadilla, enchilada with shredded beef, and guacamole salad. The quesadilla was very simple and plain. The enchilada was better than I thought it would be. I liked the tender shredded beef that was reminiscent of the Cuban “ropa vieja”. The Strawberry Mojito was good. Overall, the food was decent, service wasn’t anything special, but the place was pretty cool. I could definitely see it being...
