I emailed this hotel before booking to verify their shuttle service from the Sanford Airport. I was told they did offer it and all I had to do was call and schedule. This was the main reason we booked this hotel since we were only staying one night after a late flight. I called and scheduled the shuttle a week before our arrival. My flight was supposed to land at 11:30 pm. I was never told there would be a cutoff for the shuttle. The lady said she would schedule it for 11:40 pm and she verified my phone number in case there were any issues. My flight landed just before 11:40. I took my phone off airplane mode immediately and had no messages or calls. After un-boarding the plane and waiting on our baggage it was just before midnight when we walked to the shuttle pickup. The shuttle was not there so I called the hotel and they informed me that their shuttle services end at 12 and that their shuttle operator had clocked out. When I went on to explain that I had scheduled the service I was told yes but since my flight was delayed (by 10 minutes) they couldn't accommodate me. They never called me or anything to check on us or see if we would still need a shuttle. Instead they left 2 women and 2 children stranded at the airport. I continued to tell her that I was never informed that if my flight was a few minutes late that they would just not pick us up. I also told her that they took my number in case there were any issues and nobody bothered to call. Honestly, I very highly doubt anybody ever even came to pick us up... As much as I didn't want to keep my booking we ended up paying for a taxi to take us to the hotel anyways because it was so late. When we arrived I was planning on having a few words with a manager but when we walked in only a young lady was working the front desk. At this point I didn't even want to bother getting into it. I decided not to worry with it anymore since we were just staying for one night. Of course we got stuck in a room right at the main highway and got to listen to that all night. This was probably the worst experience I've had at a hotel in a long time. If you thought there was any possibility that the shuttle wouldn't be able to pick us up that should've been communicated to us beforehand. At the least a phone call should've been made to let us know that you could no longer offer us the shuttle, but instead when I called to check on it I was treated like it was my fault or that I should've known that we would just be left in an unfamiliar city with my two kids and mom because my flight landed 10 minutes late. I was not offered any assistance with getting to the hotel. Thank goodness I was familiar with Mears Transportation services. This was the absolute worst...
Read moreWeâve stayed here on our way back home to Michigan after time in Florida. We stayed again last night and our room floor carpet was so old and dirty and stain looking and was brown colored. It had a big huge stain right when we walked in and smaller stains everywhere. It didnât really give us the feeling of a clean hotel. The elevators had dirt down in the corners on the floors and in the vents at the bottom. The mattress was a little bit too firm for me. I wish it wouldâve had a pillow top on top of it. Weâve had hot breakfasts at several other hotels in the last couple years and the hot breakfast here doesnât taste as fresh or good quality. When people get used to eating really healthy organic foods, then eating, the cheapest of foods is very unsatisfying. The turkey sausages tasted terrible. The scrambled eggs really had no flavor, so they had to be the cheapest eggs out there. There was only one kind of bread which was white bread. There were no gluten-free breads. I guess these were just the low end basics. My husband and I decided we probably wonât come here again because we didnât enjoy the breakfast and I didnât sleep good and our carpet was so filthy dirty that my husband didnât want to take his socks off. sad to say because the shuttle has always been our Highpoint coming here. I did like the nice blue carpet in the hallway, but I also smelled a person smoking pot in one of the rooms on the way to the first floor bathroom when we first got there. That is a horrible smell and it should not be allowed. Maybe the front desk person didnât even know, I understand those kind of things happen. Our friend had asked about the hotel, and I was truthful because her and her husband had thought about maybe coming there. But I have tried to explain to her what we experienced she said âit sounds like a dump to me.â I told her it was an average hotel maybe a little below average for $120 for the night that we spent. It definitely wasnât worth that much. Another thing that juice dispenser had liquid in the bottom that was completely full and very unsightly looking. It looked actually disgusting. The lady that was doing breakfast is very sweet and was very very busy trying to help everyone so I imagine she didnât have time to empty it. anyways, it really needs some updating before we would ever come...
Read moreThe hotel itself was pleasant, though it had a slightly older appearance. Unfortunately, I encountered a live roach in the elevator, which was a bit unpleasant, but I suppose it's to be expected in Florida? (I'm not from here). After that incident, I was a bit nervous and thoroughly inspected my room before settling in. I noticed some stains around the side of the mattress and box spring, as well as some hair under the blankets, but it wasn't too significant.
However, the bathroom had freshly cleaned towels, which was a nice touch. The shower and tub were a bit outdated, and the floor appeared to be stained from dirt and grime. So, I used a towel before stepping on the floor barefoot. Once I got into bed, it was quite comfortable. The pillows were soft, the blankets were warm, and the AC worked well. Additionally, the wall plug-in outlets were convenient for charging purposes.
I was in a difficult situation when I booked the room, with very little notice and it was late at night. I contacted the hotel and spoke with a front desk representative named Jay. They were extremely helpful in assisting me with the reservation and showed genuine care and sympathy toward my circumstances. Although Jay was unaware of the details of my situation, their kindness was greatly appreciated and will always be remembered.
Well, because I checked in past midnight I believe the official check-out time was undetermined or lost in communication. I did not realize that I had to check out on the following day. I had thought I paid for the room until the following morning and was scrambling to know where I should go next when I received the call that I needed to leave or pay for another night that I could not afford.
I arrived at the hotel after midnight, and I think there was a miscommunication about the official check-out time. I didn't realize that I had to check out the next day, and I thought I had already paid for the room until the morning. When I received a call telling me to leave or pay for another night, I couldn't afford it and didn't know...
