My wife and I had a wonderful experience here at Sanibel Grill.
I ordered the ribs and was blown away by how good they were. The meat was literally fall off the bone and perfectly sauced. The scrumptious sauce was sweet, but also had the perfect tanginess to keep you licking your fingers and going back for more. My wife couldn’t resist eating a few from my plate as well. Served with cole slaw and fries seasoned with old bay, I would order that dish over and over again.
My wife ordered the chicken Caesar salad which also exceeded expectations. It came dressed perfectly and you could taste the homemade anchovy, parmesan, and lemon (or white wine, not totally sure to be honest) that comprised the dressing. It was exceptional; and the juiciness of the grilled chicken far exceed my expectations. A chicken Caesar salad can typically be a bland dish at many other establishments, but not here. I mean, pumpernickel croutons, I would never have thought of it, but man it was good. They even serve whole anchovies on the side if you would like them. I’m not seeing many other restaurants go to this effort, especially in this price range.
Way to go sanibel grill! special thanks Audrey at the bar for making a custom drink and Bart for running the it by yourself afterwards. You all should be proud knowing that you are making your...
Read moreMy wife and I made a visit to Sanibel Grille Thursday (9/13/18) with another couple we met on the island.
We were pleased that they were open late, as the other two establishments we tried beforehand, had closed early, due to low customer counts.
We were promptly seated, and drinks orders were placed and returned quickly. We had each chosen a different cocktail running around $9 each. They were all quite good.
Our meals were ordered shortly thereafter and arrived quickly. The ladies had salads, which were apparently pretty good. The men had some form of "shrimp and Grouper" combo, which cost $16. For that price we expected more than 3 fried shrimp and two very small pieces of Grouper. The combo came with fries and a teaspoon of Cole slaw. It was served hot and was quite tasty, but the portion could (and should) have been larger.
Our server was very kind. We would probably...
Read moreIf you charge a premium price, don't be cheap. Everyone in our party ordered a cocktail, but not all of us received an alcoholic drink. The Rum Punch and the Jamaican Me Nutty were stout drinks, but the John Daly tasted like sweet iced tea with lemon... Forget any semblance of the Chambord floater! My wife had some island rum drink that tasted like the melted ice left from an empty glass of Koolaid. Her second drink was one of the Jamaican Me Nutty's, and it was weak as well. Mind you, these aren't cheap drinks!
The food was skimpy as well. $16 for two little strips of "grouper" and three flattened out butterflied shrimp with fries. Luckily I had the $7 Brussels sprouts appetizer which ended up being $1 each sprout.
Not impressed and will never return. I don't care HOW many celebrity's faces are on the wall. Sanibel Grill, you have a wealthy clientele, feed them and give them what...
