My wife and I went to The Timbers Restaurant our first night to the area and we had a great experience. Our waitress Diane greeted us with molasses oat bread which was wonderfully crisp on the outside and soft on the inside; we ate all of it. Then, we debated over many of the appetizers that sounded good, but we ended up passing and just ordering our dinners. I ordered the grouper fillet with citrus buerre blanc, and my wife ordered the petite filet mignon. My grouper was grilled perfectly, still moist and flaky and the citrus beurre was light and refreshing. The dish went perfectly with the rice pilaf I ordered and came with broccoli also. My wifes filet was cooked perfectly medium and had a nice crust on the outside. It didn’t need any kind of sauce because it was perfect on its own. She had a perfectly baked sweet potato and also broccoli on the side. The dinners were simple but the details were executed perfectly. The dinners also included soup or salad which rounded out the meal and we left full and happy. The price was right on for what it was and we would definitely return, not only for the food but the wonderful charm of the restaurant and staff. Make sure to visit and enjoy for yourself on your trip to Sanibel.

Some of my family was vacationing on Sanibel over Easter, so I went to visit them for the day and we finished with dinner here. My aunt chose the place and was so excited, and I understood why afterward. Even just the setup of the restaurant is so cool and island-like, it’s hard to describe unless you go there and see. They have a pretty neat history that’s briefly explained on the back of their menu. As many Floridian restaurants go, there’s lots of fresh seafood options- you can see the fish sitting out on ice right by the hostess’s stand. You can basically pick any kind of fish and then pick how you want it cooked and with what sauce, so I loved the flexibility and variety there. In my party of 5 we all tried different fish with different sauces. The clam chowder was fantastic, and so was pretty much everything I tried. It tasted fresh and high quality and I couldn’t have really asked for more (maybe a bigger stomach, but that’s always the issue with tasty food). I do believe we also made reservations ahead of time because it is a popular restaurant so you may want to do that too. This is definitely a great option when in the area!

Excellent service and great variety of food. Our whole family loved it so much we went back the next evening as well and we were lucky enough to get the same server, Carolyn who really knew the menu and could describe all items, as my family likes to ask a lot of questions. All of Carolyn's recommendations were great and tasty. The pictures in this review are from two evenings meals. My kids found the lemonade a bit too sweet but thought the ice tea was perfect. All of the shrimp dishess were great. Tons of menu choices, my daughter loved the seared sushi and I liked the steak sandwich with grilled onions and blue cheese crumbles on garlic bread. The chips and salsa was colourful but the salsa was a bit bland for our taste, we like bit of heat.. Nice atmosphere and plenty of parking, all the staff we talked to were super helpful and friendly, the host Elvin/Alvin (?,) Was very nice. We were always too full to try any desserts . Nice interior, we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. The place seemed very popular and we would definitely recommend a visit.

I was seated as usual as I live on west gulf … I’ve been coming here for years!!!! we know Matt … some new manager guy, very short man with salt and pepper hair HAD the audacity to move my baby stroller with my two sleeping infants in it.. girls heads violently were moved back from jerking it !!!!!( there headed moved back to quickly ) it is against the law to touch someone’s baby stroller with infants in it and he said I’m going to put you over here because I want you over here. He had no right to do that.. alarmed, I told my husband, I really wanted to leave, but we went ahead and tried to order anyway

Then ironically, we have some new waitress that I’ve never seen before. Try to tell me I couldn’t order a dish I have been ordering my whole life coming here, literally?? She wouldn’t hear me out this woman cut me off in mid sentence ( asking if I was ordering a child’s cheeseburger for myself ) which I was not I was ordering it for my six-year-old. My husband was ordering a piece of steak and I was ordering triple shrimp…. Crazy manly creature began to argue with my husband about the soup because she Doesn’t know the menu) at all ( we have been coming here for years with our dear friends Bob and Georgina) island trading post and none of us will ever return !

Matt I don’t know who these two are but you can not Touch !!!someone’s infant stroller without permission … it unbelievably rude and audacious!!and against the LAW BTW …he didn’t even ask he just grabbed it will full force .. some other waiter put us there !!! I didn’t have a preference where I wanted to sit, but you cannot do that?? Imagine you look and your infants are moved !!!!! Get rid of these people or I’m afraid you will lose the more islanders ! Matt please call if you would like me to elaborate. I have decided to report his actions to the Sanibel police to file a complaint about touching my infants stroller aggressivelywithout permission this individual needs to learn !!

It’s also expensive for most people…save yourself money just go to doc Fords .. I ended up having a wonderful time there tonight and then headed home to our house for our beach walk… so whatever the timbers has become very empty lately… i’m starting to see why——-/go...

I've eaten here on vacation every year for at least two decades. I don't get to pick the restaurants. This place is definately getting the benefit of the terrible quality of island food in the reviews. About three options on the menu are local, the rest is imported. The menu desperately needs updating--preparations are mostly uninspired eighties standards: lemon butter, bronzing, broiling, scampi. Prep is usually competent, just boring. The wine list is uninspired. However, I had my first actual bad experience here tonight. I ordered a fillet mignon, and was served an oblong, cross-gained steak that was clearly a sirloin. I was away from the table when it arrived, so it was halfway through the meal at the table before I was able to point out the error to the waiter. Whereupon he insisted that it was a fillet, but offered to take it back and get me another one. There is literally no way a fillet mignon can be shaped like that. It is cut from a tenderloin, a long cylindrical muscle, that must be cut into round steaks. Because there were 16 other people with us halfway through dinner, I declined to send it back, but told him I wanted to be charged for a sirloin, not a fillet. He returned to the kitchen and told me the chef was 100% sure it was a fillet--an amazing feat, considering he did not actually SEE the steak. He continued to argue even when I pointed out the other fillets at the table that looked nothing like my dinner. An error is fine. A condescending waiter who talks over me and tells me it's just a "different cut" is not. A chef who is certain of what one person got served at a table for 18 without...

POOR SERVICE EXCELLENT FOOD. Got seated right away Kristin greeted us and took our drink order. Very friendly and sounded up on her knowledge up sold us a bit. So far so good. The bisque was excellent. I'm out of water. Food runner drops off crispy grouper platter with scallops and shrimp was delicious. Girlfriend ordered Yellow edge grouper with Buerre blanc also delicious. The server checks up on us 10 plus minutes into eating. Still out of water. Finish eating I'd still like some water. Girlfriend requests the check. I decide to go use the bathroom and expect the check to be there 5 minutes later no check. Kristin asks if I want desert no just the check please. My girlfriend said she politely declined the same line of questioning while I was in the bathroom and asked for the check. Wait 5 minutes girlfriend then decides to go to the bathroom and when my girlfriend comes back still no check. Finally 20 plus minutes later we have a check try to hand Kristin a card(which was on table already at this point) and Kristi zips away again without taking our payment wait another 5 minutes or so and she finally takes our payment. Great now we can go see the sunset no we can't because it took nearly 30 extra minutes to ring us out!! What was she doing?.. Great question! My girlfriend is a server we watched as she had us a 2 top, a 4 top and an 8-9 top which must have been her friends as she spent 95%percent of her time talking and laughing with that table. I still never got my water I just got tired of asking for it be the end of the meal. POOR SERVICE 3 STARS FOR...
