I rarely write reviews on food. That being said I have an urge to write about my experience from this particular diner. Reason being, I ordered steak, and steak is something quite dear to my heart.
To start, the pancakes in the combo were quite average. Take this as you may but they were of a quality comparable to that of Mcdonald's pancakes. That is fine. I mean, I enjoy mcdonald's pancakes. Though I would appreciate paying mcdonald's pancake price for them. The hash browns and eggs were fine. Probably store bought frozen or something. I probably couldn't tell the difference to be honest. I enjoyed those as well.
Alright so now we get to the MEAT of the matter, hehe. The whole meal was about 21 dollars. 3 eggs, 3 pancakes, and the steak. So I assume the breakdown of things is something like 8 dollars for the eggs, hash browns, and pancakes and about 14 for the steak.
When ordering a steak one would assume that you paying for the cut and the preparation. Bargain hunting aside (because you can find pretty reasonable prices for good cuts of meat), let's just say that you pay about 5 dollars for the cut(skirt is usually default around this price), 5 dollars for the preparation, and 4 bucks because the people own a business and need to make money. Alright fair. What I received was about a 3 dollar cut, if that is possible, and about 2 dollars of preparation. The cut itself was extremely dry and very very tough. The seasoning was something like salt and pepper which is okay if the piece of meat is decent. my main qualm was about 1/4 of it was bone and the meat was stuck like glue to those bones. I mean, if your gonna do a 3 dollar cut of meat with that much toughness to it, at least tenderize it for a good 5 mins or something. The thing felt like it was just thrown onto the grill and whomever cooked it called it a day. A perfect example of a good cheap steak breakfeast is something from Bill's Burgers, also on bristol. They use a skirt steak and that thing is tender, and it goes for about 15 bucks or less I think with hash browns and eggs.
Anyways, Thank you for listening to my rant. Don't go here if you want your money's worth and you have a hankering for some steak and...
Read moreI have been eating at this restaurant for many years, However, my wife and I went to have breakfast at I Heart Pancakes. When the server approached our table to take the order, off the menu I requested Machaca and Eggs, I asked for egg whites instead and no cheese, he told me he will charge me extra for the egg whites. I asked him why, he told me is the company policy, I understand now days they charge for everything extra, however, I find this isn't right because I just asked to have remove the egg yolks and the cheese. if I would asked for extra cheese I'm sure they would have charged me extra. I requested to speak to the manager and he told me the same thing the server did. At this point I just let my wife had her breakfast and decided no to order anything. On our way out I approached the owner and explained the situation to him but he he told me that whatever the server said he was right, and then he grabbed my ticket and wrote 10% off and didn't want to hear anything about it. I didn't like his rude attitude so I paid the bill with out the discount..... I have been working in costumer service for many years and I was expecting a different response, but boy time has changed big time,!! customer service is sadly disappearing!! to make the long story short.... it was an extremely bad experience. My family and friends will no longer eat at this eatery and I will no longer recommend...
Read moreMan, I didn't know what I was in for when I went here. I got a Groupon for this place and it looked like a divey hole-in-the-wall place so I was really excited to go.
Once we got there we realized it's basically a lower-class IHOP. It has the most basic breakfast options, nothing that is a specialty or that can't be easily made at home.
The only thing that was nice (but I'm not sure if it's actually a good thing) is that the food came out super fast, like 5 minutes after we ordered it. Which seems like something we should be concerned about, especially since the taste was... Well just not there.
I don't like leaving bad reviews but I have to be honest to warn people to stay away or encourage the management to do better. But the food was really bad. The apples in the apple cinnamon french toast were still hard from being fresh out of a can, the eggs benedict sauce had just about no flavor to it, and neither did anything else. none of the elements seemed to have any effort put in that I could give props to.
Sorry but this place would really have to turn itself around for me to want...
