We are Morton's Vip's at a different Morton's location. My wife and I went with some friends to Morton's South Coast, we wanted to invite our friends and experience Morton's Hospitality but unfortunately was completely ruined. The Moment we walked in the Manager at the time Shaun was not polite at all beware of this person, I almost felt as if he didn't know you and that he didn't care about you and your experience there.
Now about our server "Brett" Such a rude server, I can not believe they would let a server like this serve Morton's VIP'S. To start we walked in with a couple of bottles of wine. The value of the wine ran about $85 for one and $150 for the other. So back to " Brett" I had asked him to aerate and decant the wine. But he didn't feel he had to he tried to pour our wine directly into our glasses, I had to stop him immediately and he had made a sarcastic comment and said "ITS THE SAME AS A DECANTER". I told him really?!! "I DONT CARE I ASKED FOR MY WINE TO BE DECANTED SO DECANT MY WINE". From that point our visit went down hill. My wife doesn't eat meat but her favorite restaurant is a steak house "Morton's". We started with a salad and told Brett no meat or fish. So Brett decided to bring us a salad with anchovies on it NOT GOOD. We had to send it back. So after sending the salad back we didn't see Brett at all until maybe 30 min later, he would walk past our table to avoid us. Our guests were also annoyed by our servers attitude, our guests ordered 2lb. lobsters, one lobster had a gross surprise in it so we had to refuse that and the other had a major metal taste behind it.
If anyone has eaten good seafood they would understand when a lobster is not right. If you don't understand this look it up guys. This restaurant is serving some really gross seafood and charging a huge premium so they get their lobsters to the table and no crackers our guests had there food on the table for a good 10min and no server came to ask how the food was and no mention of crackers to open the lobsters YET. I had to get up and go to the front where the host is and ask her for crackers, but still no "Brett" but after I said something he showed up.
I got really upset at this point and I did talk very rude to him now, I'm sorry for that by the way but after all of this we HAD ENOUGH with this Morton's Experience at South Coast Plaza. _ YOU GET A BIG FAT "F".
So while we were still there a Captain from Anaheim MORTON'S spots us and we told her how we are so upset and we want to leave NOW. She tried her best to defuse the situation but we had already had enough. She was amazing and thats why we go to Anaheim. Thank You SANDY.
But to end the night at the end we paid our bill it was over $250 and as far as a TIP I left "BRETT" $.25 . . . . yes 25 cents . . . . yes thats right everyone. if i get good service I will tip good service, if you give bad service and treat my wife, friends and I badly then you get what is deserved.
I really hope this helps others think twice before visiting "Morton's South Coast Plaza" take it from us we are VIP's at Morton's we go twice a month and this is the service we got from this location. DON'T DO IT! go visit another Morton's it is worth the drive for a better experience .

Read moreHi, I’m not the type of person who writes reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I couldn’t stay silent.
In May 2023, I made a reservation at Morton’s Steakhouse — my absolute favorite among all steakhouses — and invited two of my friends to join me. As always, I ordered my go-to dishes: the ribeye steak and the French onion soup.
We started by ordering beer, but it took about 30 minutes for it to be served. Despite calling the waitress partway through to ask them to hurry, the beer still didn’t arrive for half an hour. Morton’s usually delivers top-notch service, and since the restaurant wasn’t even busy that day, I immediately sensed that something felt off.
After the beer finally arrived, our onion soups were served. I eagerly dipped my spoon into the soup, only to find it frozen solid. The spoon wouldn’t go through — it was ice-cold, hard as a rock, like something straight from a freezer. It was completely unlike the hot, comforting French onion soup I know and love from Morton’s. I was shocked. I never imagined being served frozen, completely unheated soup at a restaurant of this caliber.
I immediately asked for the manager and requested that the soup be reheated in the oven. But even the manager seemed confused and unsure about what had happened. It was, without a doubt, the worst French onion soup I’ve ever had.
Then came the main dish — the ribeye steak. I had ordered it medium rare, but what I received looked nothing like the usual Morton’s quality. The outside was burnt, and the steak looked and tasted completely different from the premium steak I’m used to at this restaurant.
Even now, just remembering the experience makes me angry. It’s a very disappointing memory, especially since Morton’s used to be my favorite steakhouse. The service and food quality were terrible that day. Honestly, the entire staff — including the kitchen — needs to be replaced. Otherwise, loyal customers will stop coming back.
That being said, I’m considering giving Morton’s another try this August, 2025 if I can find the time. I truly hope next time the service and food will be flawless. Because no matter how bad the experience is, the bill is always expensive — and that makes it even more frustrating.
I still don’t know how to deal with this lingering feeling. It’s hard to accept that a place I trusted could let me down so badly. Honestly, after what happened, I feel like I should get all...
Read moreCame here a few months ago after being invited to their wine locker event by a friend. Big mistake. The event itself was nice, in the parking lot. So not as elegant as before when it was inside the restaurant. Our plan was to leave and dine somewhere else, but decided to be "PC" and dine at Morton's since they were hosting the event. The hostess was great and sat us quickly. From here it all went down hill. Our server greeted us, and took our drink orders. Drinks came fairly quickly. I got an iced tea(which only got refilled once) and a glass of wine. We ordered apps which took forever. We didn't complain because we knew they were busy. Dinner came out with better timing. At least my NY Strip had a decent char. Not great, but acceptable. We ordered desserts which he said the brownie takes 10 minutes. 40 minutes later, it shows up. Our bill was around $402, which we gave the server $500 and he disappeared for the night. His awful service did not warrant a $98 tip. 15% at best. All throughout the nite, I'd ask for iced tea refill. Never happened(well only once). He never cleared our table prior to dessert arriving.
Here it gets better: emailed their customer service and it took almost a week for a response. I didn't plan on posting this as I tried to handle it directly but that was an even bigger mistake.
Eventually the GM calls and throws every excuse from the book at me. He spoke over me. He spoke more than I did. And was extremely hot headed. We respect they were busy, but service was awful. We never complaint of the course timings because I come from the kitchen and understand. It was the horrific service we received. When I mentioned our original plan was to dine at another place(former Morton's people), he berated and belittled the restaurant in a most unprofessional manner. Jealousy? He said he'd follow up. Never did. I come from the restaurant business, and understand things happen. But this was almost comical. Actually, it was. Trust me, we pay our way. We're not fishing for free meals. That's why I waited to say something, rather than make a scene at the restaurant.
Saddest part of the story: i was once employed at this particular Morton's. Glad I jumped ship before it sank and hit...
