UPDATE: This Polly's has gone gone back to being a decent mid-level restaurant. The one waiter we usually get is a very nice man who remembers his customers. He is usually in a good mood and shares that with his customers. I wish I could remember his name. The food is consistent with a couple of dishes I like. The cornbread is fabulous but can't be good for you.
If I could give negative stars, I would. I went in by myself about 5:45om yesterday and they were obviously short staffed because they had a lot of empty seats but it took about 10 minutes for someone to approach me and that only happened after another couple came in and stood behind me. We were there was a 20 minute wait. They left but I told the lady that I would be okay with that. I was tired, hungry, and had a head ache - I didn't want to have to make another decision. During the 20 minute wait, a group of 3 and a group of 4 with 2 kids came in and were also told of a 20 minute wait. When she came out to seat people, she looked at her list and went to the family with kids first. I thought that she was being kind because they were kids. Then she sat the group of 3. When she came back another group walked in and she told them it would be 20 minutes - AND WALKED AWAY!!!!!
By that point I was HANGRY. I left and may never go back again. There was no excuse for forgetting me as I sat on a bench right by the check in stand. -3 Stars for...
Read moreSo I'm giving a 1 star. I'm in search of a French Toast style Monte Cristo I google search 'Best Monte Cristo near me' I stop here as 3 folks post in the last 2-3 weeks prior to me stopping swearing by the Monte Cristo. Now some places do the French toast but they also dip in batter and fries it as well. Disneyland uses a different bread and fries it also. So I stop and the atmosphere stepping in was like cool. Seemed like a nice mom and pop diner and wasn't crowded at all but had plenty of business. So I asked, do you have a Monte cristo sandwich on your menu? And the server who was attempting to seek he says.Yeah wait no I'm sorry. I said really because this is my fourth stop. After stopping at 3 others that have appeared on Google Maps. And you're the fourth location where people swear by the Monte cristo on your menu. Sad that like the other 3 you're telling me you don't have a monte cristo on the menu. Well thanks anyways as I turned around and walked out. I mean folks if it's on Yelp, Google reviews and such. Why take a menu item away? Why not just keep it there? You have sliced ham? Turkey? Make French toast? Now how hard was that? simple food really however some of us crave one from a diner! Yeah I can make it at home anytime, but I came into YOUR diner. I wanted to sit and eat a nice meal and well I did over at Katella Bakery I'll tell you what! Their pies looks much better than this...
Read moreWe were in the Santa Ana area and needed to stop off to grab a quick bite to eat. Now, I know their known for great pies, but literally this was the first time we decided to try their restaurant. I ordered the patty melt type meal, I was looking forward to it actually but, unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The patty was so bland, it wasn't seasoned at all and there was an overwhelming amount of grilled onions. I barely finished one half of the sandwich. There were minor problems with my husband's meal too but we were so pressed for time we knew we couldn't get a refire on both meals so, we just chalked it off as, the chef was having a bad night. We did order a pie to go when we first checked in to be seated because it was the last one, (it's one of my usual pies I get at Polly's). Upon getting home with it and going for a slice, half of the crust was missing, half! I was shocked. Before we left, the manager was bragging that they could make that particular pie in 5 minutes, but as a manager, who packed the pie, you would think that he would of noticed half the pie crust was missing. I don't know why the decision to make a fresh pie didn't cross his mind, especially if it only took five minutes to make. Nope instead, they let it fly out their door. Needless to say we won't be visiting that...
