I wouldn’t call this a sports bar and if you are going to reliably watch a game then I would go elsewhere. We came to watch the Sunday night football game and would expect they’d have the game dialed in. Instead the manager was “working on it” for a solid hour, a cartoon kept blasting over the loud speakers. By the time the manger figured it out the game kept going in and out and there was no volume or volume that was not loud enough. TVs on the wall were out and just a piss poor performance for an alleged “sports bar.” We watched the game crouched over our phone. Our waiter could have been any less interested in actually waiting and seemed more annoyed when we needed basics like utensils to eat our food with, drink we ordered that he forgot about and salt. We sat with empty drinks and waters, we would have liked to have spent money and put more food and drink orders in but our server was nowhere to be found. We were really to stay and spend money eating and drinking but we couldn’t close our tab out fast enough to get back to our airbnb to actually enjoyably watch the game where we wouldn’t be “bothering” someone who’s too lazy to do their job, he seemed drunk or high. The audacity that their only options for tip are 35%, 30%, or 20%, my husband who’s a former night club and bar manager himself felt obligated to tip even tho our waiter didn’t wait on us. If I were the owner I’d be embarrassed, I think someone from management or the owner was there decorating the Christmas tree. She abruptly and oddly asked us what we thought of it while we are trying to watch the game we came to see. I could careless about their Christmas decorations. She was “bothering us” when we didn’t know her, didn’t initiate conversation and were already highly upset about the level of service at that point, it was weird and unwanted and she didn’t seem to get the hint that she was bothering us. Food orders that didn’t belong to us were attempted to be given to us and our food was almost given to another table which just goes to show how this dive is so poorly managed. Food was mediocre at best even for a “sports bar.” The busser had more hustle then anyone we encountered.

A Fun Night with Good Vibes I recently had the chance to visit Boxcar Santa Fe and overall, it was a great experience. While the food was just okay, the atmosphere and entertainment more than made up for it. Let's start with the positives. The atmosphere at Boxcar Santa Fe was fantastic. The place had a lively and vibrant vibe that immediately caught my attention. The DJ was playing some awesome RnB selections, creating an energetic and enjoyable ambiance. The music added a lot to the overall experience and kept the crowd engaged and entertained throughout the night. The beer selection was also commendable. Boxcar Santa Fe offers a variety of good beers, allowing patrons to choose their preferred beverage. Whether you're a beer aficionado or simply looking for a refreshing drink, you're likely to find something to suit your taste. Another standout aspect of my visit was the excellent customer service. The staff at Boxcar Santa Fe were friendly, attentive, and professional. They seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that each guest had a great time. From taking orders promptly to offering recommendations, their attention to detail and willingness to assist were truly appreciated. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. While it was okay, it didn't quite match the level of excellence found in the other aspects of the establishment. Perhaps it was an off night or simply a matter of personal taste, but I couldn't help but feel that the culinary experience could have been better. In summary, Boxcar Santa Fe is a fantastic spot for a fun night out. The lively atmosphere, awesome RnB music, and good beer selection create a lively and enjoyable ambiance. The excellent customer service further enhances the overall experience. If you're looking for a place to have a great time with friends or enjoy some fantastic music, Boxcar Santa Fe is definitely worth checking out.

My wife and I ate at Boxcar for the first time for an event with the Santa Fe Foodies group. Yes, it is a sports bar, but the food here is quite good (4.5 out of 5); there is a vast and very interesting menu that features a lot of local food providers. We started with a cup of the “famous Green Chile Beef Stew,” which was excellent. The beef did melt in our mouths, the broth was delicious, and the various vegetables and green chile were well worth a try. My wife had the Fish & Chips; they were pretty good but not the best in town (which so far goes to if you can believe it, Bang-Bite food truck). But yes, it is well worth trying if you love Fish & Chips. I had the Ruben Sandwich, which I try often when I see it offered. $23 seemed like a lot, but it was really worth it; this is a superb rendition. The pastrami (not corned beef, according to the waitress) was excellent, moist, and flavorful, and the Sauerkraut was terrific! Great bread and sauce (a take on Russian dressing). I decided to substitute onion rings for the fries; they were huge, crispy, and quite good. We had to try dessert, so we split the Creme Brulee Trio (Strawberry, Chocolate, and traditional). This may have been the best Creme Burlee I’ve ever had; it’s a game changer. Do try it. Kiki, our server, was excellent, the place was super busy, but she took great care of us. The food came from the kitchen quickly. All in all, I can highly recommend you try Boxcar. We found a good dozen different options on the menu we would love to try in the future.

I'm huge when it comes to customer service and it was absolutely no where to be found in this place. We stood waiting to be seated far longer than we should have as multiple wait staff walked by ignoring us too busy trying to clean up and get thier side work done so they could leave at close which was in an hour and when i did manage to get a waiters attention it was obvious he did not want a table and was pushing us off onto the bar giving us only one menu between the both of us and rushing off not allowing us to even ask for anything. As we sat at the bar, 2 bar staff didn't even acknowledge us but did see us as they stood doing other things directly in front of us, going around asking each customer at the bar (who all seemed to be regulars) if they needed anything. Finally after much time passed we placed our order for our appetizer to be served there to eat and then our entrees to be to-go and i ordered a glass of wine with a side of cherries. Upon arrival of the wine i never received the cherries and trying to wave him down as he literally stood 5ft in front of me looking at the customer next to me asking him if he was ok but not acknowledging me whatsoever. The food came pretty quickly all wrapped togo even our appetizer. I don't get out and treat myself often as i work over 16hrs in a customer service based business in which i own and although the food was decent and thier vegetarian options were accommodating, i won't be back, i understand it was an hour before close and i worked tending bar and managing a bar for over 10yrs so speaking from someone that has been in the service industry for over 20yrs there is nothing worse than an overall awful customer service experience, if you don't enjoy helping others than there are plenty of other job...
