I had high expectations for our visit to the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi. After all, it was part of Rosewood Hotels, a highly regarded international group of ultra-luxurious and distinguished hotels, including peerless properties such as The Carlyle in New York and Hotel Crillon in Paris.
Overall, our experience at the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi was exemplary, with only a few minor disappointments. But there was a lot to like!
We were very pleased with the service. Staff members were friendly and responded quickly and appropriately to our requests
For example, kudos to Roosevelt, the front office manager. He went above and beyond to find us a larger room. My wife recently had a surgical procedure and having extra space made a big difference.
The Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi is relatively small (only 57 rooms), but it has warmth and intimacy often lacking in larger hotels. The restaurant and two living/sitting rooms off the lobby create a casual, relaxed atmosphere, providing a comfortable respite from a hectic day of sightseeing or shopping (in the morning, delicious croissants, coffee, etc. are served). The public spaces are masterfully curated with a wonderful collection of art and artifacts that perfectly reflect New Mexico's distinctive native American culture and heritage.
Keeping with this theme, our room also exuded coziness rather than over-the-top luxury. It was tastefully furnished in neutral tones with interesting design accents sprinkled throughout. However, the room somehow did not feel particularly spacious. The chairs, couch. lamps and tables took up much of the usable living space. Interestingly, the couch and lounge chairs were on the compact side making them less comfortable than we were have liked
The bathroom was well outfitted with double sinks, marble vanity tops, Dyson hair dryer, etc. However, with the exception of an oversized glass enclosed shower, we found the bathroom to be extremely narrow and cramped.
Unquestionably, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi is the premium lodging choice for anyone who desires to be in the center of Santa Fe's action (it's only a short block from the Plaza). The other five star, high end properties are The Four Seasons and Bishop's Lodge. Both are located far from the center of town. Both are beautiful, sprawling properties offering a total resort experience, much different from the urban-centric Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi.
Compared to the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, The Four Seasons and Bishop's Lodge offer more spacious and luxurious accommodations, more amenities and more of everything. Their rates are also considerably higher--perhaps double what the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi charges.
Did the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi meet my high expectations? Almost. I understand that this property has limitations due to it's small size and footprint. However, it is Rosewood Hotel, and I suspect that a guest's experience at most of their other properties would reach a higher level.
That being said, this hotel is in Santa Fe, a very unique and special place. Unlike many other locations where Rosewood has properties, there is very little five star competition in Santa Fe. So, if you want to receive some nice touches of luxury and be coddled in the center of Santa Fe, the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi is your best choice. And, it's pretty...
Read moreOur stay at Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi was absolutely one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had anywhere in the US. Our welcome (and your customer service) began long before we arrived at the Inn. My group of four woman happened upon a special package offered by the Inn and listed on AMEX. Website. We contacted your hotel reservationist and also your concierge with many questions (all cheerfully answered) so we might determine whether the hotel would offer the various amenities preferred by the varying tastes of the four women in our group. We were assured that all of our needs would be accommodated. Wes, our concierge, assisted with transportation arrangements and the receptionist obtained details regarding specific requests of members of our party. The moment we stepped into the limo at Albuquerque Airport we were greeted with refreshments and cooling amenities. Check-in was gracious and smooth, and there were more delights waiting in our lovely rooms. Those first encounters set the tone for our glorious stay at your hotel. Every day our lovely rooms were spotlessly cleaned. Each morning a paper waited at our door; each evening we returned to find our beds turned down, the fire lit, and water and cookies by the bed. Every single hotel employee we came into contact with was extremely professional: polite, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. Every measure was taken to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. The lounge staff greeted us warmly and quite efficiently cared for our needs. In the evening, our bartenders and waitresses were simultaneously efficient and lively! The food in the lounge was tasty, pairing perfectly with the small selection of well-chosen wines by the glass; the craft cocktails were amazing and memorable (the hotel namesake whiskey was quite good!!). We enjoyed breakfast and dinner in the dining room - the meals were excellent, with portion sizes that left no one wanting!! On our last night we ran into the one and only snafu - the wait staff were prepared to set up room service for us in the hotel library so that we might watch the season premier of Game of Thrones on the big screen TV. When the manager determined there was a "glitch" (the TV would not receive the HBO station) he suggested we set up in one of our spacious rooms and arranged for room service bring our drink and food items to us! Check out was also smooth: your desk staff warmly accommodated our wish to have a few charges moved from one of our rooms to another. Typically, after four nights in a hotel I am very eager to return to the comfort of my own home, but in this case I was terribly sad to see my stay come to an end!! I look forward to returning with my husband so that we both may take full advantage of the more romantic experience, which I am certain the Rosewood Inn will be...
Read moreHaving stayed at a handful of Rosewoods (and even gotten married at one!), we expected the level of service and facilities that are synonymous with the brand. Unfortunately, the Inn of the Anasazi fell far short of what one would expect from a 5 star hotel and, more particularly, the Rosewood brand. We were in Santa Fe for a conference, staying at the conference hotel for two nights and then moved over for our final night to the Rosewood. It was not worth the added expense. When we arrived, we were unable to valet the car because there were no attendants out front, no apparent valet stand, and cars were parked in front of the hotel. We circled the block several times and decided to park down the street and move the car later. There were no doormen, and no one readily available to help with luggage. While our room was ready upon early arrival, it could best be described as adequate. Because of the configuration of the building, our windows faced a wall, and the fireplace required numerous attempts to click on. The morning after our arrival, we were informed by one of our friends that they had arranged for champagne to greet us in our room and inquiring whether we had received same. We had not. When we went to speak with the front desk staff, they advised that it was not their department, and we would need to speak with the restaurant. We were able to work through the mishap with the restaurant, but felt that as the guests and recipients of the gift, it should not have been on us to figure out and ensure our friend was credited. Upon checkout, the front desk staff informed us that the champagne had been delivered to a different room, where it was rejected as misdirected. This raised some red flags as, if that had been the case, why wouldn't the hotel staff have ensured that the correct room receive the delivery? When the valet retrieved our car when we were leaving for the final time, he did not remain to assist with the doors or to ensure we were leaving the hotel with all our belongings. While I was sitting in the hotel lobby, I overheard that the hotel had failed to place another guest's luggage into their car and that they would need to ship the luggage (at great expense) to Florida. Not only does that raise concerns about the service, generally, but I thought it inappropriate to discuss in front of other guests. When I provided this same feedback to the hotel in a survey after departure, I did not receive any follow-up. Overall, the location is great, but this doesn't live up to the standards of the...
