Don't waste your time! This place is way overated and overpriced. The food is beyond bland. Immediately I should have known the place was pretentious when the waitress was rude to my son and daughter. We were jammed in a corner of the restaurant even though half the restaurant was not occupied. The wine we chose was the only highlight. A lovely Piedmont Italian red.
We started with the polenta which was flavorless outside of rosemary and had barely enough sauce on it to cover the corner of the polenta. As this was an Italian restaurant we ordered our ensalata course, pasta course and entree course. Specifically stating my wife and I were splitting the dishes. I was expecting it to come out staged. What a joke! The night slowly got worse as they decided to jam an eight top in a four top spot. Again, keep in mind half the restaurant was empty.
The nightly special gazpacho tasted like cold flavorless tomatoes. Our salad came out and the waitress seemed perplexed that we asked for an extra plate since they didn't split the dish. The only highlight of the salad was the marcona almonds and a smidge of burata buried under a heap of arugula. No flavor whatsoever . At this point most of my family was already disappointed with our restaurant choice.
They hadn't even cleared the table yet, and we were bombarded by everything we had ordered. I was thoroughly disgusted by the fact that they couldn't even serve the food as the table was already full of dishes. We were handing off dishes with the servers, just to fit everything on the table.
At this point I was thoroughly disappointed and disgusted. The waitress clearly blew off all our requests and then she disappeared until later in the night. The poor food runner felt my wrath at this point as I stated where are we to put all of this? Hence staging the meal. The food runners response was oh you wanted the entree as an entree? The waitress finally returned at which point I told her I thought this was an Italian restaurant. Her response was oh I assumed you wanted it all together. At which point I said we still don't have a second plate to split our pasta and that by the time I finish my pasta the entree will be cold. Deer in headlights was her response. I said look take this back and refire it.
My daughters penne was ice cold. Guess they were insulted that I requested penne, butter and peas for my three year old. My son's meatballs and spaghetti had no flavor other than overwhelming rosemary. Our pasta had no flavor other than the natural flavor of the mushrooms and figs. The entree (crispy duck legs) finally came back out. Was not refired instead it was dried out from sitting under the lamp or maybe the oven. Overwhelming bitter flavor in the sauce. So much so that we hardly touched the dish.
As we were on vacation and promised the kids desert we rolled the dice. Twenty minutes later they finally brought out the profiteroles. The only good thing they served the whole night.
No comps, no apologies, no nada. $220 for a terrible meal. Don't go here. Honestly I hope the owner reads this as I hope everyone in Santa...
Read moreI really hoped Andiamo would have been better. The service was spotty, and it really is much slower than most places you can dine, as other reviewers have said. They aren't wrong. We were seated quickly as we had a reservation, and I checked in about 45 minutes ahead of my actual reservation time because of the reviews of long waits beyond the reservation time. First, the little restaurant was a little house, quaint but extremely warm inside, and diners are pretty packed in. I wish we would have sat outside on the patio. On the food, you have to pay for bread, just to let you know. It's not a lot of bread for $4.00. You do get olive oil with that and balsamic vinegar if you request it. They also don't serve any type of cola's or any sodas at all. Only alcoholic beverages, coffees, bottled water, or you can get tap water. We were VERY surprised they didn't serve sodas at all. No iced tea, either. That was rather odd. We ordered Ceasar salad, which was authentic and delicious. True anchovy dressing. It was two whole sections of romaine hearts, not torn. We had to chop it up ourselves to eat it, but the flavor was good. The only downside was that it could have used more cheese as it had very little. It was pretty basic with only a few croutons as well. I shared this info with you in detail because the cost of the salad was $14.00. It would have been fine if there was more to the salad. Our entrees. Again, it is a shocking price point for a minimal amount of food. My husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs, for his liking, were undercooked. This dish was a $25.00 price point. It was lacking any flavor and very underwhelming. I ordered Chicken Picatta. I enjoyed the flavor, but it's the first time in any Italian restaurant that I've only gotten one piece of chicken in the dish. It came with watered-down mashed potatoes, which were very disappointing. I love having mashed potatoes with my Picatta rather than pasta occasionally, and that's what attracted me to choose Andiamo for dinner. Unfortunately, the potatoes were not the least bit fluffy, but watery and a very small portion. The fresh sauteed spinach with it was a tad undercooked but good flavor. My dish had a nice Picatta flavor overall, so aside from the small amount of food with only one small flattened chicken breast and watery potatoes, I enjoyed it somewhat. The part I wasn't happy with was the $26.00 price point on the Picatta for very little food. I won't personally ever go back. You should give them a try as you may find something you love. Everyone has a different experience. I write my reviews to truly help someone to minimize any...
Read moreThe only reason I’m giving this review 3 stars for service is because the food was truly exceptional, a solid 9 out of 10. Compliments to the kitchen for crafting such delicious dishes that made a strong first impression!
Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our initial server (I wish we had gotten her name) was attentive, warm, and communicated that she was only covering our table temporarily until her colleague Juan arrived. Once Juan took over, the level of service noticeably declined.
Juan lacked awareness of the table’s needs, disregarding the thoughtful setup his coworker had established. He refilled our water just once during the entire meal, didn’t serve our food, and only came by once with a brief “everything good?” accompanied by a thumbs-up, with no actual engagement or follow-up.
What was especially disheartening was watching him go above and beyond for other tables, seemingly regulars, offering complimentary items and ensuring they were well cared for. Meanwhile, we waited over 20 minutes with our to-go boxes on the table before receiving our check. When he did return, it was to push dessert on us after we had already declined, which made the experience feel transactional and dismissive.
This visit was meant to be special, a graduation celebration and my first time visiting both Andiamo and New Mexico. A local friend, proud to show off this restaurant, treated us and was left feeling disappointed and embarrassed by the experience. My party and I felt overlooked and under appreciated. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively — the potential for excellence is here. Great food deserves equally...
