Mariscos Costa Azul is a Mexican seafood themed restaurant that has certainly established itself in the city different. Though there are two locations: Cordova and Cerrillos. I prefer going to this restaurant on Cerrillos as it generally has more seating options available. One of the things I like about this place is its consistency: the service is always amble and the food is prepared with the same degree of care every time. While sitting down in my booth enjoying some complimentary chips, I couldn’t help but notice the ever-so enticing Discada Norteña platter staring at me right in the face. This dish comes served on a flaming skillet consisting of grilled diced beef, bacon, onions, tomato, white cheese, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. An additional side plate of corn tortillas is also included as you’re encouraged to build-your-own tacos over the duration of your meal. If looking to order and share this item, then I highly recommend first taking into account how hungry you and your partner are.You see, this platter comes in two sizes: small and large. The former is said to feed one, while the latter is said to feed two. However, I have always found that the smaller serving is more than enough to quell the hunger of two people given that neither one of them are terribly famished. This was the case for my mom and I during our most recent visit last weekend; neither one of us was horribly hungry, so we just settled on sharing the single-serving option. As for the meal: the combination of meats was as mouthwatering as it was excellent; nothing was chewy and the various textures were consistent. Our side plate consisting of corn tortillas was indeed adequate in quantity, as neither of us resorted to finishing the contents of the skillet with a spoon. With that said I wish I could give this place five stars, however, there was one slight problem we encountered during this most recent visit: the speed of service. That’s right, the amount of time it took from our order being placed to it actually reaching our table was somewhat disappointing. I estimated that it must have taken a little over twenty-five minutes for this to happen. For that, I have to dock this place a star, but hey it's still a pretty damn...
Read moreHonest Reviews We stopped in for a late lunch almost 3pm and the restaurant was empty. There was 3 or 4 waitresses helping us wich made everything nice & obviously service fast. They were very friendly and offered suggestions for appetizers, lunch & desert. They give you chips & salsa for an appetizer that includes pico de gallo, a guacamole. Sauce & beans. And it all tasted good. The pico was better than the rest. The chips were good not too salty or burned. We ordered shrimp cocktails to start. The cocktail sauce was really good. Unfortunately the shrimp hadn't been cleaned. That was a huge turn off. We ordered the small & large and I believe the small is enough as an appetizer. For lunch we ordered the discada norteña i believe.Just the plate for one wich was big enough for 2, after the appetizer and shrimp cocktails. It's a plate that comes with beef, shrimp, cheese & bacon. It comes out over a little canister that keeps it warm during your meal, a good addition, It looked good and smelled good but it wasn't as good as It looked or smelled. The corn tortillas were better than the flower tortillas and I usually prefer flower. We had the flan as a desert as the waitresses insisted that we try it. The flan was good and a good size portion. The shrimp cocktails would have been good if it wasn't that they didn't clean them. The food wasn't the best. The desert flan was good. The location is in a good location for santa fe and enough sitting for a lot of guest. We were told the owners were cousins of the owners of Mariscos la playa in Albuquerque & santa fe. You can tell by the decor & menu selections. Lastly they tried to upcharge for using a credit card wich they don't notify you upfront or post anywhere which is illegal in New Mexico, if you're not notified in advance or offered in advance another payment option. Be cautious of that. When I told the waitress it was illegal in New Mexico they said they told the owner knew but he...
Read moreI'll start by saying. Hmmm? When i visited Santuario this week. Where to eat ? I want good Mexican food. Did my research on yelp. 4.5 stars. Not bad ! Ok ! I'll try it out. Went in, Me and the wife. We were seated. Brought us a bowl of about 10 chips, and crackers, and pico di gallo, and hot salsa. I'm ok with that. Anything to drink. I get 2 bottled beers, $5.00 each. Ok! Then they give us a menu. I don't see anything on there. What are all these dishes ? I ask. Do you have pozole, NO! Menudo ? NO ? Chile Rellano ? NO ! What do you recommend ? I ask ? And they bring me a plate of something that resembled enchiladas. My wife said the seafood she ordered tasted bland. I asked a local a few days later about the restaurant, he said ! You went to an authentic Mexican restaurant. They make food like Mexican restaurants do. It was a first time for me, i won't go back. It was pretty packed, but i like to know what I'm ordering when i look...
