Quite possibly the best mexican restaurant I've ever been to....and I'm from San Diego! The service, the drinks, the vibe....all ON POINT. We wandered all over downtown Santa Fe trying to find something fresh and not pretentious before stumbling across this place. The 4.6 rating says it all. First, the Mezcal margaritas were incredible; not a fish bowl of mix and liqueur, these were smoky, deep and refreshing. First sip...looked up at my partner and we both had the same reaction. One of the best...if not THE best I've ever had. Then, I ordered a 2oz shot of tequila. Was served on a tray of slate stone, sprinkled with salt and Tajin. Never seen that before. Server made a point of appreciating my choice of tequila, said "that's what we drink when the restaurant closes!". Next.....the food. We got carne asada fajitas and a fresh pork tamale with red sauce. Both were incredible...flavorful, bright, fresh. Sauces had complex flavors, complimented the courses well. Both were extremely well balanced, with the perfect amount of heat. This place is off the beaten path, in a small hole-in-the-wall place. Don't let that dissuade you. It's absolutely worth the walk.

I ate at this place two days in a row. Yesss!!! It was just THAT good and fresh. I didn't snap a photo of the fish tacos, but they were amazing. Fresh and flavorful. Those were $15 for three of them. Pictured are the Chicken Nachos I believe they were $14.50 and a Garden salad $10 plus $4 for chicken. I took a few photos of the menu too. The Nachos were just ok. I'm not a fan of the red enchilada sauce so i should've omitted it. My friend had the chicken salad and they mentioned it was super fresh and amazing. Everything looks fresh and made to order. They appear to serve breakfast and lunch for sure. It is a smaller establishment so it can get packed fast...especially if it's a workday and a 12 moon lunch hour. However, they do have outdoor tables as well. Bathroom was clean and spacious, and unisex. One stall though. There is metered parking, or a nearby $12 all-day parking. Not sure what's the cost per hour. Whatever it is...is definitely worth the trip. Will be back soon.

Our waiter gave us menus- as we were seated he told us Togo in and order when ready. A sweet girl brought us water, commented on our “cute” dog-the waiter who’d seated us came out to see me giving my dog water from my glass and proceeded to shame me for allowing my dog to use the cup. I was so stunned. He took the glass from me, poured it on curb edge where there were other tables and scolded me after I asked for a bowl.” You ask me first!” He seated us- did he not see our dog-perfect time to perform customer service and bring a bowl without my asking! Then he brought ours huge plastic bowl- put it ACROSS the sidewalk where my husband would’ve had to stand up and walk the dog over to it- hubby saw it and said the bowl was dirty- I saw something floating in it. He came back with our food; I tried to apologize if I offended him but I was blown off a bit he went on to talk about the salsa. If I hadn’t been so stunned, I would’ve asked if they don’t use dishwashers to wash and sanitize their dishes?!? I’m a 61 yr old woman and don’t need to be shamed like that. On the other hand-the tilapia tacos were excellent as was the...

I had the chicken pozole, it was really good but very small to go serving size for the expensive price (I think they serve more when you dine in) and didn’t even send me with anything picante. Also ordered 6 tamales to go. Frozen. And when I got home I put them in the microwave a few days later and opened one and was extremely disappointed that it was raw. At least tell the customer that we have to buy $24 for 6 tamales and that they are RAW. So here I am having to cook tamales for a couple hours just for 6. Worst $24. So disappointed. They were good but not that good the masa had no flavor. Like at least put red chili in the masa like normal tamales. My son and husband both thought they were “ok” and didn’t even ask for another one which is rare (they always eat a lot of tamales). Maybe peoples reviews are high on the tamal plate because they cover it with sauce. Overall they get a one stars just because I feel gypped! For both the tamales and the small portion soup. They should communicate that you are paying for $4 each tamal and that you have to also cook them. SMH not good and...
