How fortunate we are to have a delightful shop dedicated to children in New Mexico. We have seen a decline in this space over the last several years and how thankful I am that Jennifer, the store owner of Toyopolis - Merry Go Round in Santa Fe, has never lost her vision to keep the doors open for those of us who cherish shopping at a boutique store that offers such high quality items and who makes it her business to be attentive and helpful to each customers who walks through her doors. (And not just Jennifer, but her staff, too.) The other day I was in this shop for our soon-to-be 16th grandchild and I noticed how she has such a gift of making each customer feel like they are the only ones she has to help. She somehow gets around to all of us and shares helpful tips or advice in such a friendly and warm way. She does it so naturally and so well because at the very core of her business philosophy she believes that every customer deserves a superior customer experience at her store. I have been shopping at Toyopolis Merry Go Round for years now. Every time I get up to Santa Fe, this shop is on the top of my list to visit. Jennifer, thank you for giving the Santa Fe community this charming children's store and for being so appreciative of each customer who supports...

UPDATE 09/2021: went back later in month. Woman behind the counter WAS wearing a mask, was warm when we came in, and was understanding of a kid having a rough morning. Updating the review to reflect that.
PRIOR REVIEW: Here's the problem: the woman behind the counter seems like she hates kids, fun, her job, and the very idea of toys. Worse, at the time we went in, during the Delta wave, kids under 12 cannot be vaccinated. It's a kids toy store. The target audience needs masks to be protected. We came in at opening time, with only the two of us and the dour shopowner. She could NOT BE BOTHERED to put a mask on. My 5 year old and I are wearing masks. Why couldn't she simply put one on? Or say hello and seem happy to see someone coming in?
I'd love to spend money here, and I literally couldn't care less about price relative to online orders. Sadly the behavior of the staff means that I'll continue to spend online...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe go to Santa Fe every spring and do all the typical "touristy stuff" meow wolf, plaza, etc. I couldn't believe we had stumbled upon an authentic local toy store very nostalgic in 2019. We went in Saturday after around 3ish with my husband and our four kids there was a cute table outside with toys and trucks for the kids to play with, this came across as very warm and welcoming....however upon entering the shopkeeper was visibly uncomfortable with us being in the shop. Everywhere we went I could feel her staring me down (uncomfortable) literally I'd walk over a few feet and she was staring. She was resistant to help or make suggestions. We spent $43.00 on three...
