Today I tried gelato at a newly opened spot in downtown Santa Monica, and it was a really good experience. They have a wide variety of flavors, and I got strawberry cheesecake gelato. It was absolutely delicious, one of the best gelatos I’ve ever had. The flavor was rich and creamy, and there were real strawberries mixed in, which tasted really good. I really enjoyed it.
I ordered one scoop in a waffle cone, and the portion was pretty generous, honestly, bigger than I expected. The only issue was that the scoop was too large for the cone, so the gelato started melting and running down my hand before I even made it to the cashier. By that point, my hand was already covered in gelato. I think a larger waffle cone or a better way of scooping would help. Personally, I would recommend getting your gelato in a cup instead of a cone if you don’t want to deal with the mess. That was the only part that disappointed me a little.
The place itself is beautiful inside. I really liked the interior, clean, stylish, and cozy. I was there in the evening, and while there were a few people in line, there were plenty of staff working, so the line moved quickly. I really appreciated that.
They also have a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your gelato. The staff were friendly and helpful, they told me about different flavors and let me sample some.
Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this place out. The gelato is very good nice, and I would probably come back and try...
Read moreJust had the worst experience at this store on Santa Monica Blvd. I came in with my wife and 4 yr old daughter simply looking for a coffee to go. I ordered an Americano and when I finally received it I asked for sugar and milk that I could add to it and the cashier named “Urban” kept saying she couldn’t charge me for the milk so she couldn’t give it to me - it was so confusing because I just wanted a splash of regular milk - not oat or soy or anything special - she just kept looking at me strangely to the point I had to call my wife over and figure out why I couldn’t get some milk for my coffee. My wife was equally surprised and the worker seemed to be enjoying the fact that she was frustrating us - and even thought she said she had milk, was forcing me to drink the coffee black. We’re experienced travellers and have never experienced a situation like this anywhere on the planet and considering we were in North America, milk/cream and sugar is pretty standard. Anyways, “ Urban”, after making my coffee would rather give us a refund and lose three customers forever than give us a splash of milk. Not sure that’s what the owners would’ve wanted, but we’re...

But don’t get me wrong, although they have expanded, their ice cream are staying absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the Belgian chocolate one. You can try it in a regular cup, or get some Nutella or pistachio cream added to it for even more flavor.
