The views of course were spectacular. Eating outside with the sounds of happy families, the waves, and the fresh gulf breeze made for an enjoyable lunch even though it was in the upper 80's. The staff while helpful and nice were not especially communicative when issues arose, tried to make things right. They were working in a very tight space with a workman on a ladder, during lunch rush, so it had to be stressful. We ordered the fresh catch tacos and grilled shrimp tacos, each of which came with flash fried nacho chips and salsa. Though my shrimp looked burned, the tacos were delicious. The nachos however were not. I wasn't sure what flash fried nachos were, but these appeared to have been in hot grease much longer than a flash and had a district burned corn flavor which was unappealing. When I took them back to the order window, the young lady apologized, then gave us unfried chips from the opened bag, which were stale. I can't think of a time that either my husband or I have thrown away nacho chips, but we did that day. We were disappointed that the bar didn't offer and beer on tap, but the canned was okay. It could have been colder for by the time I returned with our new chips my food was cold and my beer hot. Overall, we found it overpriced even for beach food. But it was a relaxing counter service meal. If we go back we'll try a burger and fries, as these looked good on other customers' plates.

Mixed experience at this restaurant. First off the wait was rather long for a Thursday. This restaurant is kind of like an overpriced Sonic, except not a drive in. You walk up an order at a window and then they call your order. Food is pricey for what you get. It’s not gourmet and is your average burger joint. Hot dogs and burgers are near 10 plus dollars. The water and coke tasted gross. The water had this horrible aftertaste and the coke was watered down. My chili cheese dog was great. They used queso cheese for the dog so that was new. My wife gave her burger a 3/5. My daughter said her salad was good and gave it a 5/5. The guy that was handing the food out of the pick-up window was nice but kept wiping his sweat off with a towel that was over his shoulder and was touching food without gloves on...yuck! Overall, I would tell Fishheads to lower their price by 20%, put some urgency behind service, tell the sweaty guy to not touch food after using his towel, and check on their coke and water. If that happened I might bring my family back.

Great atmosphere. The bartender charged my credit card and I paid cash too. Be careful. This is a dishonest practice. I dont think it was on accident . I let them hold my card for the tab. She handed me my cash ticket at 3:41 pm and charged my card at 3:41 pm. I don’t think that’s an accident. It charged $50 at 2:19 pm which was probably a hold on the card for the tab. Then I was charged $42.84 on the card and my cash total was $77.00. $77 was my total bill. I called her out on it 7 minutes later and she said that it was a mistake and she had already refunded it. MAYBE!!!!!! Buyer beware. I don’t like this. My first bartender had left. Madison was the one that charged my card and took cash. If the owner wants to look at the “refund”, I told her at 3:49pm . I handed this girl $93 cash and the charge has went through and posted three days later! She was a thief! Holy crap, I really thought she might’ve refunded it.

Happy to see it open again

No soap available in the bathroom. Empty soap machines in both the main and handicapped sink areas đŸ€ź

Edit: Been back a couple times and there has been plenty of soap! Bumping to 5 stars

Edit: A year or so later: I had some of the worst quality fish and shrimp I have ever been served on this island. The food quality was terrible. Shamefully terrible. I was surprised that it came out it was so bad

For the last few years they have had fresh fish and shrimp that seemed like they sourced from Maria's, Joe Patti's, or somewhere else local. Now it's worse than the cheapest frozen fish and shrimp. This was nearly bait-quality level. Serving food like this is disrespectful and dangerous. Spoiled seafood is a common source of food poisoning

Other spots on the island seem to have no problem getting fresh fish. There is no excuse for this. Stick to something safer like chicken tenders if the kids are starving at the pool and hold out for a decent meal somewhere else on the island. There are much much higher quality options for fresh seafood

The server was tired and rude but it's early season so struggling to get staff up and running is excusable. Serving spoiled food is never ok

I'm dropping my ratings and I won't be going back for a couple months at least.

--

Edit 20250714: It's still not as good as it has been in the past. Pretty mid quality on the seafood. Hard to understand with Maria's and so many other good local sources. It all tastes frozen :/

The menu doesn't clearly communicate upcharges. Was charged for a missing sauce. No itemized receipt

Bummer on all of that but it's a good vibe. The staff is great upstairs. Do eat here if it's close but it's not consistently fresh. Sometimes it is very good though. Take a shot!

If this kind of thing concerns you they promised island locals that they would open their amenities to us in exchange for taking our dunes. They have not honored...

I would not recommend this place based on our experience. While the food was okay, we found a hair in the fried shrimp, which was very off-putting. On top of that, the customer service was poor throughout our visit.

One major issue was the billing. We noticed a pending charge of $94.57 for just three meals (it should only be $55 + tax), which prompted us to look into it further. It turned out the cashier had added a gratuity fee—without informing us—even though it was a to-go order. The fee was added to more than 50% of our total, and when I asked for a receipt, I was told it would be charged to our hotel room and wasn't given one.

When we brought the issue up that evening, the staff claimed they couldn’t do anything and said the manager would handle it the next day. We followed up as instructed, but the problem still wasn't resolved. They gave us different excuses. First, they said the gratuity fee was charged—even though the cashier only placed the orders in the bag. Then, the hotel receptionist claimed it was mistakenly charged to our room instead of a different one. Lastly, they said I hadn’t closed the tab, so it remained open even we only order to go meals. I had no idea that it was the customer’s responsibility to manage that.

Upon checkout, we waited over 30 minutes for a manager, only to be met with confusion—some of them weren’t even aware of the incident and communication among them seemed poor.

What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability. The managers did not offer a sincere apology and instead defended the employee’s actions, which felt like a clear case of overcharging if not fraud.

This experience left a very bad impression, and I would caution others to check their receipts carefully...

We went at 7:30 last night, but it wasn’t busy. Our server was the bartender James (I knew right away it wasn’t going to be good service). We asked for water and got that quickly. Then put in our drink order and one appetizer. We got the trio chips with 3 dips. The chips were old and stale.

After we put in our food order, we waited for 30 minutes before we asked about it. The manager is who we asked. When our server found out we talked to her, he sounded annoyed that we may have gotten him in trouble. After “checking”, he came back and said he didn’t know where the food was and walked away in a huff. Another 15 minutes goes by before we finally get our food. He brought our dishes one at a time with attitude.

My 7 year old son ordered the fish & chips. There was only 3 bites of fish on top of 30 waffle fries.

My mom’s burger was missing all of the toppings and when she asked about it, he said “do you want me to take it back? 😏” She said “No, I just want the toppings please.” Took him almost 5 minutes to bring lettuce & tomato to our table. We realized he upgraded her to a 2 patty burger without asking her (so they could make more money).

My fish tacos had barely any fish in them with way too much sauce. It came with a side of their stale chips. 😑 I ended up eating half of my son’s waffle fries because I was not eating anymore of the stale chips and I was still hungry.

My husband got the surf & turf fajitas. Tiny portion also, but he liked the flavor.

I only gave it a 2 star overall because of the atmosphere. It’s a cute restaurant, but we will never...
