I'm a foodie. This week we're Foodies on vacation. We seek out local places. When it comes to food Pensacola Beach has some great choices. We picked this place for our first late breakfast on day one. Cozy place with a top tier chef and an operational model you'll admire. They have a robust menu with choices ranging from standard breakfast fare to higher end brunch items and other things. Check out the desserts under glass. Order breakfast and it is unlikely that you'll have room for dessert. The cappuccino is piping hot. If you want to spend an hour or more for breakfast then this isn't the place for you. You'll need a moment to take a careful review of their full menu. Ordering at the counter means that you're cutting a lot of time and the usual table service dance at most breakfast restaurants. For soft drinks and water you serve yourself and of course you can have refills. My classic eggs Benedict was perfectly prepared and the hash browns were better than average. And the crispy bacon was exactly how I must have it.

Wifey ordered a simple egg and cheese omelet. If you're a Foodie you know this dish is often the first test for wanna-be chefs-in-training. Again, this simple dish in this place is on par with a Michelin-level restaurant. Young son, 13, was overwhelmed by chocolate pancakes simply due to the size and the way it was plated. Not surprising that it looked better than any picture a mind can imagine. Eldest son's Nutella French toast is worth starting a revolution over.

The couple next to us had a plate of beautiful shrimp and grits ... I couldn't stop looking at.

When you complete your order they give you a number for your table but won't need it. The attentive staff demonstrates the kind of flowing teamwork that confirms they care about you. They know you and they know your order. Meals come quick and everything you need is on the table.

Pay attention when you look around the place. They care. Plenty of options and arguably the most efficient way you can get an expert chef level meal in short order.

If you're not familiar with the area feel free to ask as the staff are local experts. When I find a breakfast place that makes me feel like I matter and they serve me great food I go back to confirm excellence. šŸ‘ šŸ½ šŸ›šŸ„žšŸ„ššŸ˜‹

On our next visit I'll beg and buy a mug to add to our kitchen.

Summary *Fantastic food fast with fair prices Great coffee Stellar fudge and cupcake selection

They have military discount available. As a retired Army guy with 10 deployments I appreciate Vet-friendly...

Just visited this morning. Wasn’t too crowded, about half full but service was horrible for being half full. First issue: no kids menu. I asked for a kids menu and waitress said they don’t have one. So they had to get a full sized meal or share from the adults. 2nd issue: the black coffee was terrible, like worst I’ve ever had. I asked for a mocha Frappuccino (on the menu) and she came back and said they couldn’t do that but maybe I’d like an iced mocha coffee, so I said sure. Wasn’t the worst, definitely not great. Third issue: it took forever. We ordered a cheese omelet, regular pancakes, and chocolate chip pancakes. Not much, just 3 orders. But about 15 minutes after we had ordered (not sat - but ordered our food) a large group of 7 came in and sat down. After about 20 minutes or so, they were bringing out their food and yet we were still waiting on ours. I asked our waitress where our food was when that large group got their food that came in well after us and she said uh, I’ll go check. 5 minutes past, nothing. I look back and she is at the kiosk thing typing something in (I hoped it wasn’t our order…) I asked another waitress walking by to speak to the manager and it took several minutes for the manger to come out. I told her that that large group had gotten their order and we still haven’t recieved ours and we’ve been waiting for close to an hour. She said that it was our waitresses 2nd day and that it was actually most of the waitresses 2nd-3rd day. So I said well we don’t not want to wait any longer if we could just pay for our drinks and leave. She said don’t worry about the drinks and apologized for the wait. I do not recommend Cafe Bistro. Go to Native for breakfast, great service and great food!(it was actually our waitresses first day there and she was...

The food was good. But the kitchen staff (also the ones that bring you your order) are rude… I hate complaining especially when it comes to restaurants because I know what it’s like but I ordered 2 orders of the chocolate chip pancakes, didn’t realize until our food came out & my son sat there with no plate looking around for a couple minutes that the cashier didn’t hear me say ā€œ2ā€.. when the lady from the kitchen was done giving the table next to me their food I said ā€œma’am, I ordered 2 orders of chocolate chip pancakesā€ she didn’t say a word, she just walked back to the kitchen & came back out with the ticket & set it on my table & said ā€œthere was only one.ā€ & just walked away. Not once did she smile the whole time we were there, she looked straight up miserable. Which I get it, it was busy but…. It would have been a lot better if they had a couple waitresses. It would help the place not be so crowded, you can hardly even go make your drink because you have to get in line to order & the line is right next to peoples tables who are eating. the food was great though & the cashier was nice, but also very pricey! For 3 plates of breakfast, 2 cups of coffee & 3 fountain drinks was $70. I also tipped about 22%, had I seen what the service was like before paying, I probably would have tipped a little less. We had found this place online, and was unsure about the time they open as the times online were different than their website. We arrived at 7am after driving straight through for 14 hours. It was pouring rain when we arrived. At 7:30am the open sign came on and immediately people started exiting their vehicles and walking inside. By 7:35 all the tables inside were full and people were still coming inside. The cashier wasn't friendly, even tried cracking a couple jokes with her, and the guy behind me told her to smile and she just stared blankly at him. Might want someone a little friendlier at the front counter. The food was absolutely amazing, and we could've shared our pancakes which were literally TWO personal size cakes! Mom had the french toast with nutella and daughter had a blueberry muffin which they heated up for her. Our coffee wasn't too sweet and was just what we needed to start the day off. Excited to find clean restrooms as well. When we left at 8am, there was still people piling in. It is definitely one of the choice breakfast spots in this area. We seen the eggs benedict and other breakfast plates coming out and they all looked amazing! I don't think you could go wrong with anything you order, just be sure to bring your appetite!

We tried this because it was voted best breakfast place in Pensacola. That may be the case but it appears the standards for best breakfast are lower than one hopes. First thing we were struck by is the set-up. It's not a cafe were you get to order at the table. It's more like an ice-cream parlor where you go up to the counter to place your oder and then try to find a seat. The table are crammed in tightly. It's a very busy, happening place with several employees hustling and delivering food. The cashier taking our order was very kind and patient while we asked questions. We ordered, found a table, and waited, and waited, and waited. People who came in after us received their food. We finally snagged an employee to ask when our food was going to be ready and he told us we needed to order at the counter. When we explained we had, he then checked on our food and suddenly it was ready. The portions were large. Their pancakes were very thick. BF really enjoyed that - I prefer fluffier cakes. The taste was ok. It seems all the breakfast locations are part of the same strip mall, and the two we visited both had similar set-ups, which was uncomfortable - but perhaps that's just how they do things there.
