I was excited to find a new Ramen house. My gf and I love this type of food so I was excited to give it a try. I placed an order and got home only to find that my order was not only wrong, but undercooked. I ordered a dish with chicken (so I thought) only the order I opened had pork, undercooked pork to boot. I understand that miscommunications happen, but it was so disappointing. I happened to be in the area after work following this dinner catastrophe, so I stopped in. I wanted the manager to know what happened with my order bc I thought the undercooked pork could potentially be a general health concern. When I approached her with this news she was VERY defensive and questioned my patronage. It made sense why she'd ask for verification, so I provided her my receipt from my cc. Once my honesty was firmly established she vaulted right into mild hostility by aggressively explaining to me that's how pork is supposed to be cooked. Even if that's true (which I don't know that it is and dont wish to eat it that way for obvious safety reasons), I don't think customer service is supposed to be cooked that way. It has some fine tuning to do to be sure. She did issue me a 20 dollar credit. I was happy for that but won't be returning to this place to eat. Uncooked pork isn't something we've experienced before. Not uncooked like that. Pictures are included. was excited to find a new Ramen house. While I was calmly trying to tell her about the issue we had she just kept arguing and then accusing me of arguing with her! It was very frustrating and I didn't understand why she'd want customers to feel that way in her restaurant. In the end, she did issue me a 20 dollar credit. Getting there with her was a lot of work. Needless to say, we won't...
Read moreIt’s very unfortunate that I must express my grievances here, especially being that this is my first ever review, and the simple fact that is much rather take time to give a positive review, rather than the one that will follow here. This past week I purchased food at Raku Ramen for my family and I. To be exact I ordered 2 Shoyu Ramen, 1 Poké Don Bowl, 1 Rainbow Roll, 1 California Roll, and 1 Spicy Tuna Roll. I found Raku Ramen a couple months ago, and my initial experience was pleasant. Therefore I decided that it would be our go-to place for ramen. We also thought it would be good to support a local place during these times, hence our recent order, though we’ve scaled back on eating outside of our home. Fast forward to once again the recent order, which warrants this review/grievance. My family and I began with eating the Shoyu Ramen and Poke Bowl. Afterwards we became full, and decided to wait approximately an hour before indulging in the sushi. Keep in mind we had never opened any of the containers, which the sushi was prepared in for us. Approximately an hour after finishing the first part of the meal, I began to eat the Spicy Tuna Roll. I ate once piece... Then began to eat a second piece of the Spicy Tuna Roll. As I place the remainder of the second piece in my mouth, I notice on my finger what seemed to be eel or a sliced mushroom, and initially when to eat it off of my finger. Then instinctively thought/felt something was not good. It also dawned on me that I had not ordered eel nor anything with mushrooms. As I began to inspect this unknown piece of substance, it looked to me as it had an opening, mouth, or eye of some sort. In disbelief, as I prompted my wife something was wrong, i squeezed and pulled the object between my finger, at which point it began to move. I then threw in to the table, spit the food out of my mouth into the tray, followed by an f-bomb. To make matters worst, the damn thing continued to move while on the table. Actually to make matters worst, after further inspection, I realized that I had already eaten at least half of it, at the remainder of the body of what I had by now identified as a slug was still moving. If anyone reading this post knew me, you’d know I’m one of the most calm, collective, big hearted, most respectful person. I contacted the restaurant and expressed the aforementioned experience. I also placed emphasis on the fact that during these times, the last thing I want to do is give any establishment a review that would hurt business anymore than most have already experienced. I also cautioned the employee on the phone to not take my calm nature lightly, that I was indeed not happy, disgusted, and felt something should be done -and comp for my next meal or any meal there was obviously out of the question. The employee did not have much to say other than offer his apology and express that it all seemed horrific. He also reassured that Bill - the owner would contact me. I felt that was a given, as how could the owner not followup on this incident. I’ve eaten food in places all across the globe, and have never had such a foul experience. To add insult to injury, no word from the owner of Raku Ramen. The main reason for my review? I expressed to the employee that at this point, there was not much they could offer me, other than maybe free beer for a year (jokingly), though what I wanted to drive home to them was the importance of investigating internal so that no other incidents like this occur with future customers. Given the current times, pandemics, diseases, incidents like this are unacceptable. Incidents like this should have alway been unacceptable. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. P.S. Bill (Owner) I’m still waiting to hear from you. You have my contact info. I’m listed as M.J. in your...
Read moreVery good ramen shop hang-out. Love the big windows, the many white lanterns on the ceiling, the friendly and smiley ladies at the counter, the menu selections with reasonable prices. High point for steamy Ramen arrived in ceramic bowl, good portion, good toppings--choice of chasu pork, grilled or fried chicken, tofu, etc. Love Donburis too. Order and pay at the front counter, take a number, and grab your iced cold water or other drinks from the cooler, and the chop sticks (A+ for good sized wooden kind),the soup spoons, and napkins, then, take a seat. Our ramen arrived in reasonable time and piping hot. Spicy miso ramen was awesome, soup was spicy and thick, pork was tender, veggie cooked to perfection; shoyu ramen with grilled chicken breast was nice and hot, chicken breast pieces was tender and delicious. The noodle was a tad overcooked and not bouncily aldente'. Shoyu broth was a little on the bland side, as if something was wanted. Donbori with fried chicken was awesomely delicious and fresh, with perfectly cooked rice, crunchy kimchi, and cole slaw cabbage. Good locations with lots of parking. A week later, we went back to try the Raku ramen with pork belly. Also asked the counter person for aldente noodle this time. We were not disappointed. The noodle was aldente, much better texture than our first experience. The pork belly too was falling-apart-melt-in-your-mouth tender. The broth was flavorfully porky and creamily yummy. All the other components were nicely put together to add wonderful textures. We ordered the fried chicken donburi again. It was deliciously lean, and just perfect for me. Picky me tends to shy away from chunky fatty meat.
FYI, you are expected to put your empty dishes away in the bus bucket in the corner with a sign with that instruction. However, the employees at times would come by to collect your dirty dishes if you are done eating. The restaurant looks nice and clean. We did not see any table with dirty dishes left on table for too long. So, it pleasant to the eyes while you enjoy your ramen with enjoyable music lightly broadcasted in the background. Looks like we will keep this ramen stop as one of...
