Marble Slab Creamery — Restaurant in Saraland

That was disappointing at best. We were visiting from out of state, and were told to check out this mixing, ice cream place recommended by our waitress. We rushed through our dinner, and hurried over it the Saraland AL location. We realized that we showed up 5 mins before close, and would not have normally done that, but we were leaving the next day. We were greeted with annoyance and honestly nasty employees. There were several of them standing around and then one came up and very abruptly made sure we knew she wasn’t going to mix anything into our ice cream. Didn’t even give us a chance to look at anything and was very rude. I assumed she was the manager. Not only will I never go to another of these stores, I will make sure to let all people know what kind of service to expect. I have worked in several retail and customer service positions and people have walked in less than 5 mins before closing and I have never treated anyone with the amount of disrespect because the bottom line is the business is still open. It’s not closed! You still have to operate as such. I always frequent this location but today was the worst experience ever. First issue is when we were in line a group of young men walked in 1 not wearing shoes seemed to know the staff which isn’t a crime, but one of them immediately went behind the counter with out washing his hands grabbed some gloves and started preparing ice cream. The you men who were with him were served cookie right off the tray without washing hands. The young man fixing ice cream seemed to be an off duty employee who was passing out ice cream to his friends there was no payment and he was servicing them ahead of paying customers. I asked the young man why he didn’t wash his hands he stated he was only fixing their ice cream. I stated that he was touching all the utensils and putting them back in the assembly line. I had a child who saw the employees eating miniature cookies and I asked if I could purchase some since she was handing them out for free to her friends, she replied no with an attitude. I did not appreciate the service or the lack of sanitation that was displayed in this store. I don’t think I will return. Came in at 9:00 when the store closes at 10. I am 8 months pregnant and told my husband when I walked in that I needed to use the restroom. Not a minute later one of the young employees pulls two chairs in front of the bathroom blocking it off. My 5 year old is also asking to use the restroom, my husband grabs the attention of an employee and asks if we can use the restroom and they say no. I had to load myself and my kid up and drive next door to the gas station to use the bathroom and then come back because we were with other people who already ordered and we had as well. At 9:27 they told us their lobby was closed? We were not even the only people there, there was another parent with a group of children. This location doesn't have a drive thru so how does the lobby close at 9:27 and the place is still open until 10? The floor was filthy when we walked in with entire smooshed cookies on the floor.
