Waffle House — Restaurant in Saraland

Okay, Okay I realize it's been almost 2 weeks since we were there but you know if you still have it on your mind you have to share it! First off... Penny and Danny your service was unforgettable. Penny with her upbeat, welcoming attitude and the most sincere smile you'll ever see. A look you in the eye "REAL" smile! A "no I don't mind at all smile" going back to get you water, creamer, extra whatever because We were so worn out from driving that we couldn't remember to ask for anything until after she had walked away. But she returned just as chipper as she left. That attitude means a lot to early morning late night travelers. (from NC) Danny your response to your job was noticed time we entered because you also turned and greeted us with a warm welcome and we immediately heard it in your tone and the smile. I can't say "as always the food was great" because sometimes it's just not, however I can say in this case it was more than great! Cooked to perfection (meaning it could have and I should have photographed it!) the look, smell, and the taste was outstanding. All precisely plated to look pleasing to the eye. Another impressive point I'd like to make was your cooking station was clean. And when you were not cooking I noticed you were cleaning and straightening your cooking station for the next order. No doubt you have good work ethics in the cooking dept. I apologize for not getting this done sooner ( we were there the early morning of 8/17/21) I think I mentioned we were on our way to Louisiana for the birth of our granddaughter. Well after that my time got away from me. Anyway we look forward to revisiting on our return visit to see her. Keep doing what you are doing for Waffle House Penny and Danny. We get to waffle House tonight march 1, 2024, and right off the bat, the cook has an attitude and made no bones about having one! The people seated behind us were very loud with their conversation. (I don’t mind someone having a conversation, but I don’t have to hear every single detail of your conversation. Thank you, gentlemen.) The food was horrible. Scrambled Eggs undercooked, bacon undercooked, Salty, And overly greasy (I know that some of his food is supposed to be greasy but there’s greasy and then there’s overly greasy and mine was overly greasy. It’s like they took the grease that was already in it and maximized it times 10). They forgot the grits, and when They brought the grits and I ate the grits, something lodged into my throat. The waitress never brought me any refills for my drink so I had to choke on that till I can get to a convenient store down the road and get a drink. This waffle house was pretty good at one time, but This experience made it where I never wanna go back again. They had bad attitudes and most of The waitresses were mumbling under their breath. We walk in, there are 4 empty booths with dishes on them and no open clean ones. We stood there waiting for them to clean one off so we would have somewhere to sit and the service staff so much as even move an inch. So we stood there awkwardly for about 4 minutes or so until one of them finally cleaned one off. So we sit down and start looking around. We notice the caked on grim on the toasters, mold on the ceiling, fly sitting on the waffle batter container. It looked disgusting in there. We had to wait for a refill for about 10 minutes. Our food was awesome but our server seemed like she didn't wanna be bothered with us. We're a young couple so I'm sure she assumed we weren't going to tip.
