We picked up key lime pie on a stick and was disappointed. Especially after hearing they are “award winning”. We have high expectations after having the absolute best ones in the FL Keys. I ate mine in the middle of day, in the sun, and the chocolate just didn’t melt, it also didn’t taste like chocolate. The pie was tasty, crust a bit too thick. But the chocolate not melting ruined it. The ones in the keys are extremely chocolaty, you have to eat quickly, and the chocolate melts as it hits your mouth. It’s like CBC’s version is made with too much wax to have a solid thick set shell for being sold out of a cooler at the farmers market. The first bite and overall look is exciting and disappointing at once, the chocolate shell is thick, but tasteless. Owners should have the version you can find in the keys, then replicate it. It was just a couple days before my wife's birthday & I had promised her a gluten free key lime pie, I called the Caribbean pie company to make a last minute order on Friday & was told they have they have the pies on hand & wouldn't be a problem I could stop by anytime Saturday & just pick it up, didn't need to order in advance. When I arrived they were out, but the guy asked if I had called. He then went on to let me know that he had remembered my call & as they were getting close to selling out he set one aside for me. This is the kind of customer service & care that is so rare today & makes a company stand out as exceptional. the pie itself was the best key lime pie we've ever had. While in Sarasota, we decided to get some key lime pies as it is my favorite dessert, but we had to leave the next day. First off when we entered, the owner was super nice and welcoming to us! We decided to get the regular and tropical key lime pies and brought it back with us 11 hours home (put in a cooler in the car). It was still good, and we tried the pies which were super delicious. We gave our neighbor some of the pie we had, and they finished it within the same day we gave them the key lime pie. We and our neighbors think this is the best key lime pie we have ever had.
