Art Avenue — Attraction in Sarasota

Years ago I had a very good experience buying a painting by a well known artist at a reasonable price from Art Avenue, so when we were looking for something to replace a painting in our bedroom, I called them again. On September 12, 2023 we did buy a very interesting mixed media piece and consigned the painting it was replacing to Art Avenue for 180 days. When that time passed without hearing from them, I called to set a time to pick up our painting. Eventually, I was given a time to meet with Paul Sykes at their gallery, where I learned that they had no idea where our painting was and that they had apparently lost all the paperwork, including documentation I gave them to authenticate the painting and what I had paid for it, as well as the invoice they gave me when they took it away. Luckily, I had the original invoice or I would have no proof that they took my painting. It's been 20 months since I made the mistake of dealing with Art Avenue a second time. The art collection of Paul's is amazing! Hand picked artists are true gems! I'd also recommend to visit his new gallery on Palm in downtown Sarasota. Yesterday we had a lot of pleasure to participate in presentation of Dali's works brought from Spain. There were also great works of very talented contemporary artists.
