The Garden Room Cafe' at Shoogie Boogies — Restaurant in Sarasota

We were looking for a full package, all-in-one, hands off wedding and the owner provided just that until the day of the ceremony. She was very meticulous during the planning stages of our ceremony and reception, but the execution was just not there. Everything was a bit chaotic and we had to remind the owner of things: it's time to cut the cake, it's time for the first dance, it's a no-look ceremony, etc. When it was time to "hide the bride away", my daughter and I were led outside in the heat to the neighbor's back porch (without his permission) in full view of guests arriving?! It was all very awkward. We stood there sweating off all the makeup and hair styles on which we spent hours and $$$. Why is the bride standing in the heat??? I was sweating profusely by the time I walked down the isle. The owner was more interested in Instagram and videos to send her brother than the wellbeing of the guests. The whole vibe of garden room is there, in some respects, but the premises, decor, table settings, dish ware, etc. are not clean and tidy. The service was underwhelming. Our wedding cake was butchered, gifts were lost, there was little space to mingle. The owner does not allow for property tours prior to booking--so it's a buyer-beware situation. Our family and friends made the wedding special, despite the strange atmosphere. I am sure the owner will have many excuses and rebuttals in response to this review; ultimately my hope is that the next wedding can be spared the unnecessary hassles and awkwardness we had...

Shoogie Boogies is a unique restaurant experience. I have enjoyed the most delightful meals here with friends, my husband, and most recently with my daughter, grandchildren, and my husband. We sat amidst the most beautiful garden filled with lush plants and flowers in a very serene atmosphere. I think it would be impossible to not enjoy a meal in this relaxed atmosphere. Kathryn Kittinger and her staff all contribute to enrich the experience with their outstanding, caring, and efficient service. They just are quietly in the background aware of every need you might have on a particular day. The food is carefully prepared and served to taste and look as outstanding as the atmosphere. Salads, crepes, fruit, wraps-----all kinds of combinations are possible. I enjoyed the deliciously thin crepes filled with extraordinarily fresh fruit. Our granddaughter loved the soup. Our daughter had the freshest salad one could imagine. Our grandson devoured his wrap with great enthusiasm. Enjoying a meal at Shoogie Boogies is not just eating -----it is an experience unparalleled in Sarasota, Boston, or NY which are all places where we have frequented many restaurants. Today we celebrated my beautiful daughter with a sprinkle in honor of her second child being born. It was just 8 of us because she just wanted a low key intimate gathering. Kathryn was amazing in helping me decide which table she felt would best serve us and she did not disappoint. The room was decorated with flowers 💐 in every single spot imaginable even white long stem roses hanging from the chandelier over the table. The teas, wines and flavored waters were all delicious and the presentation of everything was right on point. The food was delicious with unique menu choices all served in a timely fashion. The desert tier was not only beautiful but yummy. From start to finish we could of not been more pleased. I definitely would recommend them and I for sure will host another event there in the future. What an adorable sweet place to have events or just an intimate lunch with friends. Thank you Kathryn for all your help and kindness shown to us during the planning and at the event. You definitely have a wonderful business and with your great personality and your go above and beyond expectations, I feel very comfortable in referring others to hold events...
