Bai Tong — Restaurant in Saratoga

This review is strictly about the service. We walked in on an early Saturday evening. This is a very small dining room., so we stood just inside the door, for a few minutes, but the two servers didn't acknowledge us. So i walked to the back wall where a podium was, and stood for a few minutes more. A man came out from the back, and I asked if he could get us in without a rez. He said it would be about ten minutes, and he will clear the table by the front door. He got it cleared in about five, and and motioned for us to sit... That was the last we saw of him. No server came over, no water, no menus...nothing... The servers were having no problem with attending to the other diners, but literally turned their heads away from us. I do have my time limits for situations like this, and at 15 minutes of being ignored, I stood up, just as the host/owner came out from the back. As we turned to open the door, he looked up at me, and then non apologetically went back to what he was doing... There was another couple sitting outside waiting for a table, and we explained to them what had just occurred. And we wished them good luck and hope that they get to eat... My money will go to anywhere...

I’m not big on doing an actual review myself however, this little BIG gem truly deserves the 5 star review. My friend and I recently had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon with no reservations, just as a walk-in and I am extremely please with the staffs attentiveness the minute you walk in the door to the second you leave. Not only is the customer service great but the food we had was AMAZING! I am Thai myself so I KNOW authentic Thai food and this is just that! I ordered Pad see ew (flat noodles) with prawns, mild and my friend ordered Pad Thai with Prawns, mild. It was nothing short of delicious. Our waiter ( i forget his name but he seemed to be about late 30 or early 40s, idk if that helps lol) helped my friend order because this was both of our first times there and she’s picky. He explained the difference in sauce used in cooking specific dishes and which would be sweeter, tangy and/or spicy, etc. WE appreciated his knowledge of the vast dishes bc most staff do not know what goes into the dish. For that he also contributed to a 5 star review! All in all, it was a delight having lunch here and I honestly would drive from San Jose to Bai tong again. Thank you So much...

We went around 3 pm after hiking at Castle Rock Park. Just want to say service is amazing staff kept refilling our water and checked in. Bathroom was clean.

However: Food took a long time, I checked and it was 3:40 pm and we still had no food. We ordered 4 dishes with 3 orders of the spring roll appetizer for a group of 5. Food was okay. Reading from the comments, good food in Saratoga area is hard to come by. Maybe I'm spoiled with more choices up north. But I'm used to the dishes with more intense flavor. Spicy-ness level was mild. I'm pretty intolerable to high spice and I know Thai places can get . We ordered mild spicy for the knee mao and it tasted plain. They were out of pork and iced coffee for the day so adjusted our orders.

It's a good solid spot. Not life changing. But it hits the the spot. Great place if you're hungry and...
