Businesses like Tai Zhan make me proud to shop local! This plant based bakery pop-up is a heartfelt operation slinging out flavorful and inventive sweet and savory treats. You can see the hard work and dedication on the owners’ faces when they serve you! My favorite is the coconut bun—the cream, coconut flakes, and density of the bun are perfectly done. I also enjoyed the hot dog bun on a recent visit. Definitely order a special menu item as they rotate every few weeks—I tried the mango mousse crox and it was phenomenal!

That said, be prepared to wait in line when you visit the Saratoga shop. I waited about 70 minutes before I got my goods which can be tougher in the warmer months. It’s a small operation so things take time but since I think all their goods are tasty, I’d be fine getting their pre-order box! I live about 45 minutes away so can’t drop by easily but when I’m in the area I will make it a...

I visited Tai Zhan on a Saturday afternoon after brunch, and by the time we arrived around noon, the line was already quite long. We ended up waiting for about an hour and a half—but it was worth it! Thankfully, there was still a good selection of breads and pastries available when we got to the front.

We picked up the pineapple bun, eggless tart, green onion bun, and black sesame bun. Tai Zhan is a fully plant-based bakery, so the flavors and textures lean a little lighter—less buttery, less sweet—which is to be expected. That said, I really admire how they’ve recreated nostalgic Asian bakery flavors I grew up with in Taiwan, all in a plant-based way.

Our favorite was hands down the green onion bun! We’re definitely planning to come back to try more items.

Currently, they’re only open two days a week at the moment, so make sure to check their website or social media for the most...

AMAZING baked goods!!! I wish I found Tai Zhan earlier. We love absolutely everything, but some particular favorites are the red bean buns (best in Bay Area), egg and cheese buns, pizza focaccia, garlic butter bun, chocolate chip cookie, green onion bun, and chocolate croissant. The owners/staff are super kind and knowledgeable about their products if you have allergies (everything is made from scratch so of course they are knowledgeable! And without asking, they put pastries containing nuts in a separate container for me since we said our family had an allergy). The line can be long but that just shows how good the food is and it's totally fine cause it's a family-run microbakery - we spent the time talking to some lovely people in line and getting more hungry to eat more!

I hope Tai Zhan stays open forever cause finding an amazing all-vegan...

I decided to visit Taizhan this weekend. The pastries were mind-blowing. I was delighted to see so many vegan options, and it was hard to pick what to eat. I chose the chocolate crossoint. They also had some holiday specials. I tried the tuna sandwich, which was delicious. I can't wait to go back again. I also met the bakery owners who were extremely warm and friendly. Few things to note: This bakery is only open from 12-4 pm, but they generally run out of stuff around 3 pm, so the time window is limited. It is takeout only. Suggestions: I would love it if you add coffee to the menu. If you could also widen the time window, it will offer more flexibility to people who love your stuff.
