If you are looking for some great ambience, cosy place in a nice neighborhood, out of the world food being served at a very reasonable price model and some amazing hospitality look no further than Flowers Saratoga.
Me and wifey drove down to Flowers for a nice Saturday dinner date. Getting in their is a nice drive through a bit congested downtown Saratoga and the only challenge is to find a good parking spot around. We looked around and were able to secure a spot for ourselves close to the "The Inn at Saratoga" which is pretty close by ( hardly a 2 minute walk) and has a few spots outside of their property that are open for all.
Checked in into the restaurant and got a good spot for ourselves by the back wall (we chose to dine inside). The place has amazing ambience and a very nice interior which is subtle yet appealing.
Alex was our host for the evening and he walked us through some popular starters. His attention to detail answering our questions around the different options was commendable. Alongwith his recommendations and some of our research we ordered the Prawn Cigars, Charred Spanish Octopus, Ahi Tuna Tataki and Salmon Mosaic to start with.
The Prawns tasted amazing and the crisp outside was not overly oily and had the right balance to it. Fantastic presentation with wasabi swirls simply made it outstanding.
The next dish that came out was the Octopus that was charred to perfection and still being so juicy at the same time (sous vide cooking at its best i would say). The presentation again was top notch with a hint of flowers, beans, peas and the chimichurri sauce. Simply outstanding in taste!!!
Salmon Mosaic was up next and we got through it real fast while definitely enjoying the taste and presentation. Followed that up with a quick devouring of the Ahi Tuna Tataki and it was amazing through and through.
Next up was the Cod and along with that the Pappardelle that had beautiful, phenomenal, tasty, juicy and all the synonyms that you can think of, written all over them. I finished the Cod completely while wifey got some of the Pappardelle to go ( got satiated with all the food that we ordered :) ). Got home and finished that as well :) .
We ended the evening with a nice Chocolate Espresson Cup, a dessert that had a very unique presentation and had viola flowers (one of my favorite) topping the presentation.
Amazing food, great vibes, nice ambience, quality food, top notch presentation, reasonable pricing and amazing hosts (shoutout to Alex for checking with us evert so often , helping us with our questions around the food that was being served et al) made our dinner date perfect.
Can't wait to visit them again and would definitely recommend in case you are around or even if you have to drive down a bit...
Read moreDon't give your credit card to the waiters and go to the terminal yourself and pay the bill. Otherwise you run the risk of "losing" your card and facing bad service and bad solution of your situation. The waiter gave me an empty check holder without my credit card after I paid my bill, and couldn't explain where it was. We asked the assistant to the general manager, Jasmin Martinez, she promised to call me back and investigate the situation, but I did not hear back from her. She promised to check the camera records and call me back. But later, the next day, two days later she didn't answer my calls. Upon leaving the restaurant, the waiter approached us and informed us that the credit card used to pay for our meal was left under one of our dessert plates. However, we found this information to be quite perplexing as we had thoroughly checked the bill holder and did not find any credit card. Unfortunately, later, when Jasmin knew that my credit card was found, she asked if she could throw away the paper with my name and telephone on it. It is ridiculous. I am frustrated and disappointed with this kind of service. Furthermore, the fact that the "Flowers Saratoga" restaurant charged my card for $50 tips without my consent makes the situation even more concerning. I decided not to pay tips for such unpleasant service. It's important to note that in situations like this, it's essential to escalate the issue to the restaurant's management. However, it appears that the investigation was not thoroughly conducted, and there was a lack of communication from the restaurant staff. In my opinion, restaurant management should take a closer look at...
Read moreSimply art for the eyes and taste buds. The atmosphere at Flowers is light, yet formal enough for any special occasion. The cocktails were beautifully presented with a wide range of choices (although no alcohol free beer, which is too bad because there are a growing number of really good artisan low alcohol beers out there). The food was as gorgeous as it was sumptuous. We stared with the blue fin tuna bites, which was enough for three of us to have one each (so we ordered two orders), along with the prawn cigars (4 in that order). Amazing. Our party ordered the diver scallops with a crispy rice cake and pork belly, the Cortez halibut with garlic cream, the duck breast with risotto and cherry chutney, and the misoyaki cod with forbidden rice. All were cooked beautifully (the scallops were a tad overdone but that’s being slightly critical). I would have liked the pork belly to have been a little less done too. But the fried rice cake made up for those slight imperfections. The forbidden rice and cod was a pleasant surprise, definitely the best cod I’ve ever had and paired with the forbidden rice it was a stellar combination. And the halibut was unbelievably good. Desserts were also decadently good. We ordered the key lime pie, the deconstructed apple pie, and the bread pudding. We all thought the bread pudding stole the show so if you are limited to just one, go with that. And the service? Quirky and excellent with our server having a great sense of humour and good recommendations. Less than full marks for their decaf coffee though, but it may have just been a mechanical failure. This restaurant is worth coming to, and...
