On July 4th, we went at this location around 2:20 PM. Originally, we had planned to go through drive through, but we waited on speaker for about 3-4 minutes without anyone answering. If we were told to wait, or that they would need a few more minutes, that would have been fine, sure. We decided that ordering at counter for take-out would be a lot faster. When we walked in, we were surprised to see that there were 7 people currently on floor. Two people at counters (a trainer and trainee), 2 on ice cream, 1 doing mobile orders, and 2 in the kitchen. From the slowness, it seemed like there was a major shortage of staff. There were even two people on headsets! We later realized that there was another person stocking the back, making it 8 people total! There were multiple instances where the the two people on ice cream were walking around, talking to each other, and just horsing off. The state of the kitchen was less than ideal as well: people wearing shorts, hair not tied back, wearing air pods on job....all these were major safety hazards, especially when working on the fryer. There was food and crumbs in the food prep area that could have been easily cleaned by those who were not busy. Items at the front (sauces) were not stocked as well. There wasn't a line when we arrived inside the building. We sat down and waited after we ordered (two sandwiches, two fries), and it took a really long time. 20-30 minutes. During that time, there were two people who were dining in. 15 minutes after we sat down, they were called up for an ice cream cup. Once we received our order, everything was haphazardly thrown in, with the fries even completely upside down! The price we paid was not worth the wait at all. The food tasted fine, but the wait was wayyy too long for the amount of staff and there was no management or...
Read moreHorrible first time experience. The only reason I visited is because of a post by the franchise on IG captioned “get a FREE single cone or dish with the purchase of a combo meal! Only valid at Minnesota Freddy’s locations.”
This was posted maybe last week with no end date, however as of recent, I noticed the account deleted the post. Fortunately I screen shot it.
So, we visited Freddy’s in Savage, went through the drive through & inquired about the free custard. The cashier was very sassy & snippy & essentially said no promotion of its kind existed.
Whatever. I ordered a #5 with everything except pickles. What I got was a very dry & sad looking “burger” with a flat bun, mustard & three slices of raw white onion. No tomato? Ketchup? Mustard? Lettuce? What a pathetic burger.
Edit* considering we’ve never been to Freddy’s, we didn’t realize the standard for a cheeseburger was mush mustard, pickles & onion.
& the whole meal plus three scoops of custard that we paid for was $15, not worth it.
Won’t be back Freddy’s.
Edit* the DM, Mariana contacted to me & informed me of the above edit in regards to burger toppings. She was also nice & listened to my complaint & said she’d be speaking with said cashwrap associate. Thank you Mariana for taking the initiative to contact a customer who had...
Read moreSupremely underrated burger chain. We don't have many locations here in Minnesota yet (I hope that changes soon). Our family loves Freddy's enough that we drive the 18 minutes from Eden Prairie every month or two to get it -- and that's from a family that doesn't like driving too far.
I tell people that Freddy's is like Culver's, only better. The burgers are better, the fries are much better, the custard is slightly better (shakes and malts are excellent), and they have delicious fry sauce (I put this sauce on par with Chick-fil-A's sauce from a deliciousness standpoint, and that's saying a lot).
They also have a seasoning salt that is excellent.
Admittedly, I am a guy that likes "rich" food. Freddy's is salty, and I love that. But my wife is not prone to relish rich foods, and yet she also enjoys Freddy's.
This Savage location was originally a different restaurant. The interior doesn't do a lot for me, but the food more than makes up for it.
As for their service, it can be hit-or-miss. There are usually some helpful and polite team members, and some that are on the colder/less friendly side.
The children's meals are quite large. If your children are under 8 or so, you could have two children split a children's meal (unless they are...
