If you're staying near Foresyth Park, dinner at Veratina is a must!

My wife and I finally came to Savannah for a stay. Before arriving, I asked the bed and breakfast owner for an Italian restaurant recommendation and he strongly suggested Veratina. He was spot on!

Dinner started with what had to be the best Caesar salad we've ever had. Topped with finely shaved Parmesan cheese, deliciously crunchy 'pan fritto' (I was told this was focaccia croutons ground into crumbs), a 6-minute soft boiled egg and the perfect amount of dressing, I ate slowly and deliberately, realizing that no Caesar salad I order in the future will EVER compare to this.

For dinner, my wife had the cavatelli pasta and I had the sirloin. Upon first bite, my wife said eating the cavatelli was like a 'party in her mouth', as flavor after flavor came and went. Sausage, garlic, broccolini, wine and spice mixed to perfection. She insisted I try some and I was in total agreement. Amazing.

This takes nothing away from one of the finest steak dinners I've ever had. My sirloin, sitting in a delectable balsamic reduction and topped with crispy sunchoke chips, was cooked to medium perfection. Bite after bite was heaven.

Some might think a dinner this wonderful to be a fluke. They'd be wrong. After a long day of site seeing, we decided to stop in again for a few drinks and appetizers. We asked about the bar seating, but sadly, it was full. The only available seats were 'kitchen view' high tops. We grabbed them, ordered a few drinks, the Caesar to split, along with scampi and broccolini appetizers. And watching the kitchen crew orchestrating meal after meal was a bonus. Outstanding again!

If you're in Savannah, I encourage you to make a reservation at Veratina. It's likely you'll be as amazed and...

I usually only write positive reviews, but felt it was necessary to share our less than stellar experience at Veratina. After spending $225 for two of us, we made it through dinner drenched in sweat. The ac was broken and we were told it broke before the owners went out of town and they rigged it before they left. The current manager was trying to get it going. It’s understandable those things can happen, but before the owner left, he really should’ve called a professional to fix it. This is an upscale restaurant and it was 95 degrees. We also were sat in the front room, which is overcrowded, too many tables and extremely loud. It was very difficult to hear anyone at our table.

We ordered 3 dishes, pasta with sausage, flounder and Bronzino. All three came with the exact same topping, pistachio salsa verde. This was a lazy move on the Chef’s part. My husband and I like to share each other‘s dishes and to repurpose a topping on three of them was simply lazy. Only one of the menu items mentioned the pistachio salsa verde. I’m hoping that none of the guests that evening were allergic to nuts because they would’ve been in for quite a surprise on two of the dishes that didn’t mention it. Also, the pistachio salsa verde was mediocre at best. The menu also did not mention that the Bronzino, a $44 dish, was deep fried. This place was such a disappointment and we were so excited to try it. I won’t...

We came to this hidden little gem this past Saturday night and it was such a pleasant experience. We had reservations at 5 and were seated immediately.

The beauty of the inside of this place is hard to describe and you must see it for yourself. There are places for the small group to couples with indoor and outdoor seating. Bar seating is available and they a couple of high tops that face the kitchen so you can watch them prepare the food.

I had a Bellini to start the meal and we ordered the Shrimp Scampi - it was so good. The shrimp were huge and very fresh and the sauce was out of this world. We both ordered Caesar Salads, but upon receiving them my husband and I realized that we could have split one as they were huge. Covered in fresh Parmesan and Pan Fritto with the perfect amount of dressing with 6 minute eggs on the side.

My husband ordered the Mushroom Pizza and it was covered from side to side with mushrooms and was very good. I ordered the Bucatini with Vodka Sauce and the homemade pasta was some of the best ever. The sauce was creamy and very good.

I ended my meal with a Cosmopolitan.

We will recommend this place to anyone looking for an upscale Italian place with homemade pasta, sauces, etc. for a "date night" or any...

It was a rough start but the food/service saved the day! We initially made reservation for 7:30 and due to circumstances outside of the restaurant’s control, we were not seated till about 8:15. During the waiting period, their staff kept providing us updates/other options for waiting (bar/outside tables). However due to limited seating/weather, we decided to wait for our table. Once, we finally were seated, their staff was beyond friendly/kind and offered their appetizers as a gesture for our troubles. The Foccacia was crunchy/moist. The Arancini was flavorful and the multiple textures experienced in a bite made it the star appetizer of the night. The shrimp scampi was no slouch either. My entree was the Strozzapreti and it was packed with flavor. the crunch of the chopped broccolini rounded out the dished and pairing it with the Castillo do Neive Langhe Arneis elevated the dish even more. The guests I shared this amazing dining experience raved about their dishes as well. The Chicken Cacciatore looked amazing. The Rigatoni looked elegant and tasteful. Lastly, the pizza (N’duja) that was passed around was finished in mere seconds. Overall, it was an amazing dining experience with great food and better staff.
