We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night in April while in town visiting friends. Good pub food is one of our favorite go-to meals, and I was excited after seeing the menu online.
The restaurant was not busy when we got there, and we were seated immediately, always a plus. However, shortly after we were seated and settled in, a family was seated next to us. I hadn't noticed how close together the tables were until then, but I felt like we were eating dinner with strangers.
Our waitress was pleasant and friendly, but we wish she had told us she was relatively new (we overheard at the end of our meal when she was at another table). Some of the things that were off might have been fixed if I knew to ask questions differently or phrase things another way. The food also took a really long time to come out. Our appetizer was relatively fast, but it was well over a half hour to forty minutes for our sandwiches after that.
The potato keg appetizer was delicious and my favorite part of dinner. They were crispy and flavorful. Unfortunately, that was the only bright spot other than the fries (also great). I ordered a Caesar salad with my meal instead, and it was relatively dry. I was going to ask for more dressing, but I didn't see our server and picked through what I could. The chicken sandwich was okay, but nothing I would seek out. The burger we ordered, however, was inedible. It was the special of the day and sounded yummy. I asked for "no pink," which usually comes out between medium and medium well. Instead, we were served a hockey puck. Any dressing (it should have been some kind of jam, I believe) was non-existent, and so it was also a dry hockey puck. At this point, I didn't have time for a redo after how long we had waited already. My husband ate some, and we left the rest.
We typically eat in Ogunquit, Kennebunkport, or Portland when we visit. I was excited to have an option closer to them, but unfortunately, this...
Read moreWent for Mother’s Day brunch. Food was pretty bad. Almost everything. We didn’t finish most of it. Three of us got eggs Benedict and all had a very hard time eating it. I believe the eggs are supposed to be poached, but they were cooked all the way through. Tasted fine. It was very difficult to saw through the English muffin. I just picked it up to eat it because I couldn’t get my knife through it. The hollandaise was good, though! The desserts were pretty nasty. The crême brûlée was watery, but tasted alright. It’s supposed to be a lot thicker than that. It almost reminded me of mayonnaise. Interesting. The cake was very dry and the frosting was… I don’t even know what it was. It was almost like a frozen yogurt or cream cheese situation? And it didn’t even taste good, the off-putting texture and yucky flavor made it inedible. The service was wonderful!! I could tell that the waitstaff was very busy, but they were still all very friendly!! I have only nice things to say about the waitstaff!! The food was bad, but out quick, so there’s that. The atmosphere was neat. It was decorated nicely and all that. Overall, pretty disappointed with the food, especially for the prices. Once again, only compliments to the staff!! Very nice!! And it was decorated nicely in there!! Just pretty bad food. All the other reviews here say that the food is really good, so I’m assuming that today was an off day. That’s okay. And it wasn’t all bad, the steak tips and the hollandaise were tasty. Perhaps the kitchen was struggling with the number of patrons. I get it. I’m not angry anything, I’m just a bit disappointed. Thanks again to the...
Read moreHere was my experience last night: started with decent service…and then it all went down hill from there…. received our appetizer with no plates, napkins or silverware waited over 10 minutes for a server but ended up grabbing plates and napkins from the server station MYSELF after waiting 25 mins after our appetizer, I was told that the Beef Stew was out, so I asked for the Scouse Pie and was told that was out too….mind you this is an Irish restaurant on a Friday evening at 6:30pm and the Beef Stew was 86….enough said I ended up getting my third chose of the Mac and Cheese had to verbally ask a different server for silverware when my third chose of the Mac and Cheese finally arrived, it was cold and clearly had been sitting out for at least 10 minutes had to remind the server multiple times for our dessert was NEVER asked for a refill on my drink or if I wanted more water. Luckily I paced myself on my drinks finally TWO HOURS later, I received my check…all whilst the servers were chit chatting endlessly I have NEVER not tipped in my life and I used to work at a restaurant so I understand the struggles/work….but I refused to tip on such POOR service. I have been to O’Reillys Cure many times and was expecting the good service I have received before. Mind you, I have been at O’Reillys Cure on St. Patricks day, their busiest day, and received better service than I did last night. not sure if I will ever go back….which...
