Byrd's Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

Went in at about 2pm on a Monday. Only one other customer was there. Place seemed clean and maintained.

I ordered the #1 which is the Chicken sandwich. When I was asked what spice level I wanted, I asked the cashier how hot was the Supahot. His response was a lackluster ‘it’s hot’ response. Not what I was looking for. As a customer, having a little more insight into the heat levels would be nice. I went with the Supahot. I prefer it to be too spicy, than not being spicy enough. He asked if I wanted a drink and my question was, do you have unsweetened tea? He didn’t know, and referenced a can of tea from the fridge behind him, saying it was the same as this that was available from the fountain drinks. I went with a bottle of water. $20 total.

Afterwards I saw fountain drink $0.99, but 20oz water bottle cost me $3.49. Really??

I got my food to go, but they initially brought it out to me as if I was dine in. Another negative on the service. Maybe the guy who brought out my food would’ve provided a better initial experience in ordering. He seemed like he actually cared.

I came back to the office looking forward to giving the place a try. Fries were ok. They held up well in the box for the drive back to the office. I could’ve done without the potato salad.

The sandwich… being that I elected to go with the Supahot I was expecting A LOT more heat... A spicy Wendy’s chicken sandwich has more heat than what I was given. I have to think it was a mistake. No way this is the hottest option they have.

Sandwich was good, don’t get me wrong, but I expected burn. I barely got any. I didn’t even need to open the $3.50 bottle of water. SMH. Add to the fact the lack of knowing the tea options, the lack of knowledge in the heat levels, which evidently didn’t matter much in the end, and the cost? I’ll pass on being a...

Ok experience, but not great.

I visited Byrd Hot Chicken Schaumburg with my family, and we all had mixed opinions about the food. I ordered the combo sandwich, and it was just okay. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, but the bread was a bit dry.

The customer service was nice, and our server was friendly and attentive. However, we were served in to-go boxes while dining in, which was a bit strange. I'm not sure if that's their normal practice or if they were out of dine-in plates.

Overall, I had an okay experience at Byrd Hot Chicken Schaumburg, but I wouldn't die to go back. I would recommend it to people who are looking for a casual and affordable place to eat, but I wouldn't expect to be blown away by the food.

Byrd’s Hot Chicken is a welcome surprise to Schaumburg, 100% HALAL and amazingly delicious!

We were greeted friendly by Oman the minute we stepped in. They kept their menu simple to perfect every item they offer. We tried the sandwich special #1 hot with fries and slaw. There’s a flavor for everyone as they have 5 different spice levels from Plain to “Supa Hot”! Everything was made fresh, neatly labeled and carefully packaged. Other unique sides I’m going to try next time is Byrd’s best fried green beans and their Mac n Cheese!

They give generous side portions. The crinkle cut fries were hot and the cole slaw chilled and fresh. The sandwich on that fluffy brioche bun was 10/10 for sure. It’s fresh chicken not frozen and you can definitely taste the difference. The breading is light and crispy with the 24k special sauce adding a nice finishing touch.

The place was very organized and very clean. They are definitely a game changer when it comes to chicken sandwiches.
