El Taurino Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

My own experience & opinion….My Absolute Favorite…hands down!! You have to try it for yourself to know fully understand my statement here. Fantastic quality, portions and flavor!! Friendly, attentive carry out & dine in service too.

If you have frequented Mexican restaurants, then you likely know that flavorful, consistently top quality food (or any restaurant food for that matter)…can sometimes be very difficult to come across with any regularity/consistency.

My experiences at El Taurino have been awesome. There is bit of a wait at times, however, the end result makes it well worth it (for me at least).

This restaurant is THE BEST in the Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg, Illinois area bar none!!! The Chimichanga Dinner with Carnitas is delicious & the portion is huge (enough to share with two others).

The tacos are divine, whether you get chicken, steak, carnitas, or the other vast choices they offer for protein….. it’s “ALL OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS”!! You can’t go wrong with any selection.

The Salsa is so very FRESH & FLAVORFUL eith fire roasted tomatoes as well , and I love their mild Verde & and especially the spicy Verde sauce.

The Pico is a favorite also. You can’t lose with any of what they have to offer. Also, the Liquados de Fruitage beverages are entirely refreshing and full of great, fresh fruit flavor.

Additionally, the owner called me personally to make sure my online order was to my specifications as I had listed in the notes online…to be sure he understood my requests and to eliminate confusion.

And, I so appreciated the fact he took time out to do that, which is rare these days in many restaurants who just throw your order together and don’t particularly care about the details once you have already made payment online. Moved to Schaumburg - found this place - go there for Taco Tuesday - myself and my 2 boys. The server Rebeca is always rude to us and yet I still tip her everytime 20% of the check. We order 6 tacos and 2-3 fried ice creams plus 2 waters and a horchata.. everytime same order... She seemed to get mad at the fact that they serve free chip and our bill must not be to her liking (wonder if she is owner of the resturant;)? On one occasion a Tuesday she said she couldn't serve us chips because they do not do it on Taco Tuesday. Mind you we have been going there for months EVERY Tuesday...I asked her to serve us chips and charge me for them she pouted but served us the chips. Somehow she forgot to charge me for them (because they are free;) and I still came back for more of her rudeness because my kids like the fried ice cream. They graduated 🎓 today 🎈 They both wanted fried ice cream (one wanted tacos as well) so we went. Again the girl Rebecca is super rude and again I am super kind but as I'm waiting very patiently to pay the check (my kids left to the car because of the long wait) I noticed she is taking chips to a new table that just walked in and it reminds me that she didn't offer us any chips... I ask her why... she said "only if you order 6 tacos or more you get chips". I asked her how she knew the new table was going to order 6 tacos or more? She didnt... she just proceeded to keep lying... one lie after another lie to cover up her first lie... I told her she gives me bad vibes every time I am here with my kids and that I had stopped coming in because of it. I went in there because they wanted fried ice cream I also told her I am finally writing this review that I should have wrote 15+ visits ago...I hope this opens up her heart ...on a positive note I am going to learn how to make fried ice cream myself UNLESS I find another fried ice cream dealer...

Took my family for the first time for brunch on Mother’s Day. My wife and I ordered the same dish, Chili Quillas and Skirt Steak. Not only was the steak seasoned perfectly but was cooked to perfection. The service was great and our kids liked it so much they wanted to go back for dinner, however we had plans for that evening. Fast forward to tonight (Tuesday), we went back for dinner and they did not skip a beat. Not only is the restaurant very cleanly but the service was on point. My wife and son had a mixture of Tacos, and the Chili Rellenos. My mother order order the Tostadas, Ceviche and some appetizers. I got the Shrimp Soup and was very pleased by the portions and especially to see how well the shrimp were cleaned. As mentioned this is a great restaurant and we plan to come back again and again! My only recommendation is shake the margaritas better make them a little stronger as it was a little watered down.
