Good food, but very bad service. As someone who used to be a server, I like to give my servers/waiters the benefit of the doubt because I know how busy weekends can be. This past Sunday in particular was semi-busy, i expected that service may be a little slow. I don’t mind waiting to get something, but even I have my limits when we don’t get greeted for 40+ minutes. They brought us to a table on the other side of the wall to accommodate our party of 5, they went to greet and serve the party that was 2 tables over as soon as we sat down, and I’m sure that server saw us, but 40+ minutes and nobody came to even bring us waters or say welcome or “one minute please I’ll be right back”. It felt like we were being ignored, and this is not the first instance where we wait so long to get greeted or get our food here. After waiting for so long, we decide to just bring our order sheets to the front desk attendant so that we can finally get our food sometime soon because we’re starving. They thankfully rung in our food and it started slowly coming out within the next hour after that. First couple appetizers were brought and still we didn’t know who our server was because they just dropped the food and left, still nobody brought waters to the table. It wasn’t until the sushi finally came that we finally got waters. Service after sushi was finally a bit better but it really can’t make up for the multiple times that we’ve gone and felt like we were being completely ignored, whether it be in the middle dining area where they can easily see us, or in the back, hidden behind the wall, or even if we’re just one of the 6 tables they have and there are 3 servers working the floor. What really did it for me this time is that a bigger party of about 10 people was being sat right next to us and they got immediate service, seating accommodations, waters upon arrival, and orders taken after about 5-10 minutes of them getting sat. I keep coming back hoping that the service will change but it never does, and this last visit just proved to me that no matter how much benefit of the doubt I give these people, i always feel like they ignore my family, and I do not think it’s fair. I’m not one to play the race card because I think it’s extreme, but it’s hard not to feel like race is a factor when I see other families of a different race than ours get treated with better service than we do every single time we go. I’m always one to leave a minimum of an 18% tip even if the service wasn’t great, but this visit I felt that the mandatory 18% tip was not deserved for such bad service. I suggest training the servers on providing proper food service, greeting a table a couple minutes after the table is sat, bringing them waters even if they can’t handle taking their orders at the moment, and just overall I feel like they could really benefit from learning how to manage their tables better and treat their customers better. Again great food, decent prices, but they make you feel ignored even when they’re not busy. This may not mean much to the restaurant but my family will not...
Read moreI found this Japanese restaurant by accident online today and I was specifically craving sushi so I hopped in my uber and arrived during the beginning of their dinner hour. I didn't realize they focus and specialise in all you can eat sushi but once I noticed the fair pricing I thought I'd definitely take advantage of that option. First of all you need to be open minded when you get here. There weren't clear instructions on the menu about their "rules" so I'll inform you of these minor issues here in this review. There are appetizers, nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, miso soup, tempura and udon soup here to choose from. You are definitely not allowed to consume all you can eat sashimi though. You may select two sashimi choices per maki roll you order. I didn't know this going in nor is it clearly delineated on the menu. Now that you know this choose wisely. I enjoyed the octopus and squid sashimi the most and even though the plates themselves weren't super fancy, the presentation was impressive because they place shredded carrots, parsley, lemon mint sprigs and edible flowers around your sashimi. I also loved the spicy tuna and spicy salmon sushi maki rolls. The rolls were tiny enough so that I wasn't too full and I had enough of an appetite to try seaweed salad here and tempura vegetables which were cooked very nicely. I also tried a couple pieces of nigiri and that's pretty much all I had room for in my belly! I strongly advise anyone here to order only a couple of items at a time because you are expected to finish everything you order so you aren't penalized. The lunch prices are lower during their lunch hour and costs only $14. Dinner prices are nominally slightly higher at $20 per person. The only thing that I found odd was the fact that I wasn't offered water often enough even though this restaurant was pretty empty. I had to continuously ask for water refills from my server and green tea was not offered to me like in most Japanese restaurants. I also wish to add this restaurant is very low key and simple. There are grades of sushi and the quality here is GOOD but not EXCELLENT. I was very satisfied with everything I ordered. There was only one piece of sashimi that I ate that appeared to be too chewy and that was the tuna sashimi. If you come here knowing that this restaurant is simple and casual and you understand the sashimi rules then I think you'll really enjoy your meal here especially because the prices are so fair. I would absolutely...
Read moreSAVE YOUR TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Am I allowed to put zero stars for service??? I just went here last night and I was extremely disappointed. I was completely flabbergasted at the lack of service. We were sat down at a table, weren’t given a pen for the AYCE menu, and were not explained how the ordering worked. I wanted to order off the AYCE menu and my boyfriend wanted to order off the regular menu. Someone came by and they asked if we had any questions. I said, I need something to fill this out, and I was given a pen and I was shown how the menu worked. I filled out what I wanted for the first round, and one of the bussers came by and just took the sheet from me without asking if we wanted anything else. Literally just took the paper and walked away, we didn’t even have a moment to ask for drinks. At this point, we thought maybe someone else would come by and offer us something to drink or ask if we wanted anything else, as we still had the menu open at our table. No one came by. We didn’t even get water. The items I ordered off the AYCE menu came one at a time, over the course of half an hour, starting with one piece of salmon sushi. Several minutes later, got the potato croquette, which was described as two pieces, but was just one piece cut in half. After that, the crab puffs came out. While I liked them, they did not come with any dipping sauce. The crab puffs are the only reason the food has 2/5 star review. Before the rolls came out, when someone came to grab the plates, my boyfriend asked if he could order the bulgogi. They brought us the small AYCE serving of it. When they came to the table with it, we clarified and said we wanted the bulgogi bowl entree. The small serving was then taken back and the entree never arrived. My two sushi rolls came out on the same plate. The sushi rice had too much vinegar. The rolls seemed too soft and were almost melting in my mouth, in not a good way. By the time finished the last few pieces (because I did not want to pay extra for any leftovers), I was feeling ill. It wasn’t until someone came by to grab that plate that we stopped them and said that we had been there for over 40 minutes and no one had asked if we wanted water, no one checked in on us asking if we wanted anything else, and even when we tried to ask for the entree that my boyfriend wanted, we never got it. We paid for one AYCE meal and walked out. Would not...
