This was my first visit to Vasco Peri Peri since I don’t dine in Schaumburg very much. I came with eight other people including four kids on a Saturday evening. This is an order-first and then grab a table to dine-in type place. I waited approximately five to eight minutes to order since there was a line of people waiting to order in front of us while the rest of the family got a table. We ordered a variety of items some of which were Peri Mogo (x4), Veg Samurai Burger with Paneer, Veg Samurai Wrap on a Spinach Tortilla with Paneer, Hummus and Pita, a couple of Veg N Rice with Falafel and the Vasco ‘Unreal’ Wings (6-piece). The best item was the green veg samurai wrap which had the right amount of lettuce, tomato, onion, and paneer in it. I added garlic sauce to this wrap and it was the best thing every – Probably the best wrap I have ever had. By the way, I was told that if I dine-in, the garlic sauce is provided (unlimited) on the table, however, if I order take-out, I have to pay for the garlic sauce. I would definitely pay for this garlic sauce when ordering take-out since it is that good. All the food took about 30 minutes to come to our table since they were that busy, however, the wait was worth it.
The peri mogo fries were delicious and crispy. The extra pitas we ordered were hot and really soft – Went well with the hummus we ordered. The veg samurai burger was really good too with a different type of bread than I’m used to.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was loud and alive since a lot of people were dining in on this particular night. The place looks new and well lit up. I especially liked the light bulbs that were hanging from the ceiling on a piece of rope – Gives the place a contemporary look.
Overall, I will be visiting this place again (dine-in as well as take-out) since the food...
Read moreVasco's Peri Peri packs flavor and the heat. If you're not familiar with what Peri Peri is, its a seasoning, flavoring, and style of chicken that was originally produced by Portuguese explorers in Portugal's former Southern African territories, particularly Mozambique and its border regions with South Africa, and then spread to other Portuguese domains. And yes, I totally stole that last sentence from Wikipedia.
Vasco's has a variety of stuff on their menu, including burgers, paneer, falafels, chicken and rice, and chicken sandwiches, to name a few. You go up to the front, order from either a paper menu or the overhead menu, pay, and grab a number and table. They will bring out the food for you.
Pro-tip: the burgers, are not ones made with beef, to my son's dismay, but made of chicken. Why it's not called a chicken burger, I don't know. In either case, the sandwiches come in this very fluffy, very tasty ciabatta bread. I ordered the "Samarai Burger", which had peri peri chicken, romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, samurai and garlic sauce. It was scrum-diddly-umptious! The got the chicken in a mild sauce, and it had the right kick. Note, one of my friends got the hot, and dude was in pain. I believe the hottest there is is "Dynamite" and you need to sign a waiver for it. No joke.
I ordered a side of seasoned fries and it was pretty good. Food came out fast, chicken was mildly dry, but still tasty, and overall, great food.
BATHROOM REVIEW: Located around the corner, opposite wall to the kitchen, the bathrooms are single-person bathrooms. Inside the mens, the urinal was broken, but kudos for the sign. Toilet was "meh" but workable, and the sink and super-powerful hand dryer were good. Sit or...
Read moreAs someone who loves trying new restaurants, I recently visited Vasco's Peri Peri and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Luis, one of the workers, who made me feel like a welcomed guest in his home. He was friendly, attentive and provided great recommendations from the menu.
I started off with the casava fries, which were cooked to perfection and had a unique texture and flavor. The hot sauce added an extra kick of spice that I thoroughly enjoyed. Then, I tried the hot wings with lemon and herb sauce, and they were simply divine. The chicken was juicy and cooked just right, and the sauce was tangy with just the right amount of heat.
For my main course, I ordered the veggie biryani, which was bursting with flavor and spices. The portion size was generous, and it came with a side of vasconaise that added a creamy, tangy flavor. Luis also recommended that I try the Unreal Wings, which were vegan and surprisingly tasted like real boneless wings. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the hot sauce was perfect with just the right amount of spice.
Throughout the meal, Luis checked in on me to ensure that everything was satisfactory, and his warm and friendly demeanor made me feel like I was part of the Vasco's Peri Peri family. The restaurant had a cozy and welcoming ambiance, and the Halal certification was a plus for me.
In summary, I had an amazing dining experience at Vasco's Peri Peri, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable meal. The flavors, quality of food, and excellent customer service from Luis and the team were all top-notch. I can't wait to come back and try...
