Today was the most delicious unexpected surprise I didn’t know I needed. I was on a mission for a sweet treat today, so I thought why not hit up a bakery. We stopped by looking for a different bakery at that location, and were initially confused when we couldn’t find it. Regardless I walked to an unfamiliar door and my fiancée and I realized we had just missed closing. As we defeatedly turned back to the car, a goddess of a woman with the friendliest smile opened the door and asked if I was looking for something, I explained that i NEEDED a sweet treat, she graciously invited us in and I was hit with a tantalizing smell of fresh goodies. We grabbed a half dozen cupcakes, with flavors including red velvet, banana cream pie, funnel cake and peach cobbler (which has easily become my new flavor obsession). They were so fresh and moist, with such impactful and overflowing flavor profiles, in such perfect servings. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, making us feel so excited to be in their store. They have tons of other offerings like shakes, sandwiches and other goodies as well. I wish I could give this shop 10/10 rating. We can’t wait to go back and become regulars during their standard business hours. Definitely give them a visit and taste if you’re ever in the area or need a...
Read moreThis was our first visit to What’s Shaken’ Café. We were looking for a yummy dessert for after lunch and the display case did not fail to serve up an abundance of delicious looking cupcakes in an assortment of flavors. We picked four varieties, but then the almond croissant caught our eye. It was recommended that it would be warmed, and that croissant never even made it home. It was absolutely scrumptious! Each of the four cupcakes was also delicious but if I had to pick my favorite, it was the pumpkin and my husband‘s favorite was the banana. Next time we visit, we plan to try their lunch specials. The location is a little bit hard to find unless you know where to look: find this little gem in a strip mall on the road behind Up Your Alley in Schererville, steps from the Schererville Post Office. I think this is a family owned business and the owner Tania and her team are just as sweet as their cupcakes! Give it a try, you won’t be...
Read moreAs a sweets lover and a baker I have not found a place that has homemade tasting sweets that are WORTH the hype. Amazing flavor, not overly sweet, and just delicious. I’m missing a picture of the Oreo shake (husband and son finished it right away it was so good) but we had the shake, peanut butter cookies, banana pudding cupcake and peach cobbler cupcake. All were AMAZING. The staff is all family and ALL have down to earth customer service. Bringing my 4 month old and 19 month old places is hard since everyone wants to touch the babies. They adored them without physical touch, made my 19 month old less shy and just created an overall pleased experience. Flavor, density/moistness of cake, ice cream quality, and COOKIES, were absolutely...
