It’s been a bad few weeks and I needed to leave the house. It’s a Saturday morning (and only the second Saturday since they opened) and the place is buzzing, but the lines move through quickly and the staff and space accommodate the guests smoothly and efficiently.
I decided to go up to the mezzanine to get away from the fairly loud main level and to see what was up there with the floating lotus lamp overhead.
I almost made it to the top of the stairs before tripping. I regained my footing but not before losing half my cappuccino to the stair treads. Somehow, I managed to keep my mug on top of my saucer (They’re really beautiful so it would’ve been a tragedy and extra embarrassing for me if I’d broken the dishes).
Fortunately, the trashcan and dirty dish tray are located right at the top of the stairs with room for me to set down my lemon-oh and the remaining half of my cappuccino. And, because I had seen a young woman just leaving the mezzanine with a spray bottle and rag, I knew I could track down somebody who could help me clean up my mess, especially since I had depleted the napkins from the dispenser upstairs.
When I found her cleaning up tables on the main floor and told her what happened, She immediately apologized that I had tripped (Obviously not her fault). And she enthusiastically said “I can clean it!” And asked if she could get me a new coffee. I’d been pretty lucky that I only spilled some of it and I often don’t finish my coffee anyway so I declined.
She followed me up the stairs and as soon as we reached the remnants of my mess, she smiled at me and said “thank you for telling me!”
I returned to the table that I chosen. A perfect perch to people watch as they come in and gawk at the pastries and make the fairly difficult decision of what to narrow their selection down to.
Before I had two bites (of my favorite danish in the world), the young woman was done cleaning up after me and came towards me. After looking at my drink, she guessed if I’d had a latte. I clarified it was a cappuccino. That was a smart way to get an answer from me about what I’d had so she could get me a fresh one. She was going to make sure I had a great experience. Before I even finished my danish, she was back up with a fresh cappuccino, set it on the table and said something like “I just couldn’t stand it.”
Did I mention It’s been a very difficult time for me lately? She didn’t just make my coffee right. she did her job in this more traditional cafe space. But as someone who knows the White Lotus Farm, I felt like she brought the personable local vibes that always come with being on the White Lotus Farm grounds. That’s my very biased experience of course as I already live the business. But, how could I not leave a review for that?
Thank you to that young woman. I hope you are proud of the work...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a café that feels like a hidden gem come to life, let me tell you – White Lotus Farms Café is everything! This is a place where food, atmosphere, and values come together in perfect harmony. From the exquisite, cozy interior and exterior design (I love the white lotus design in their windows and oh, the paintings on their walls!) to the warm welcoming of their friendly staff, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and bakery-fresh bread, this place sets a tone of comfort and quite delight. It's not just a café; it’s a place you want to linger in, not rush through. Everything here tastes like it was made with purpose. I had a latte that was velvety smooth, a delicious pizza on stone-milled bread, and a salad bright with farm-fresh greens. If you’re seeking a charming and meaningful destination for farm-fresh goods, the farm-shop attached to the cafe is hard to beat. Their selection of items is thoughtfully curated and showcase the best of local, seasonal produce, and handmade food. Their bakery shelves are stocked with artisan breads and pastries, that melt in your mouth. The White Lotus to-go salads are probably the best in town – freshly grown greens and veggies from their farm (down the road) with the most delicious high quality (Fustinis) dressings. Grab-and-go salads often sacrifice quality—not here – so fresh and delicious! They have artisan farm goat and cow milk cheeses, which are worthy of high praise: they truly hold their own in flavor and craft. And don’t forget to try their homemade lemonade...
Read moreThe decor and styling felt like a cross between warehouse, doctors office, and food court inside a mall. The service was forgettable but effective, it took a few minutes to get my very simple drink at a relatively slow time of the day. My caprese Danish was underseasoned and slightly soggy and had very one note. I could not taste the basil and the cheese was virtually not there at all. My masala Chai tasted like a warm glass of milk with some oily notesa. The ginger lemon tea was good but not...
