September 2025 Update: have been back a few times over the year so far but this most recent trip, I was disappointed with the 4pc chicken tender meal. Super dried out, so it wasn't as pleasant to eat. Not sure if it was more noticeable, because I chose not to have the chicken tossed in a sauce (which they now charge you extra to do). Fries and Texas toast were fine. Not super motivated to go back anytime soon, since there's a myriad of fried chicken places in town now.
January 8, 2025 Opening week! Happy to see how busy they are both for dining in and the drive thru, which has 2 lanes. Despite the lines, staff seemed to be getting the orders quickly in. Kitchen in turn got the orders out in a reasonable amount of time.
Now onto the food, our families ordered a chicken wrap, chicken tenders, chicken club sandwiches, and chicken wings to get a variety to taste test. Everyone was satisfied with both flavor and quantity. And, we would say on par for the price point, compared to other similar food places.
The chicken club sandwich meal combo comes with fries and a drink. Fries, nothing special, typical for most places. The chicken was a nicely sized piece of fried chicken breast, served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, plus a very delicious sauce.
Chicken wrap was similar but wrapped in a flour tortilla.
The chicken tenders were not too large in size but decent, fresh, lightly breaded and crispy still in the box. The meal comes with fries, Texas toast, which was a great addition, and a drink. You can choose from multiple choices of sauces. The Korean one was amazing...sweet with a hint of tanginess!
The chicken wings were delicious! The ones we got were not breaded but fried and tossed in honey bbq sauce. It also comes with two other sauces you can choose from the menu. This was a bit confusing when ordering. Now we know. I believe there is an option for breaded wings too. The meal comes with Texas toast, fries, and a drink.
The atmosphere was lively. Place was full of people. No seats available, so we took our order home to enjoy. Table size was mostly accommodating 2 to 4 people.
The drive through has two lanes to place orders. This reminded me of Chick Fil A lines tonight, the way it wrapped into the parking lot. There's a decent amount of parking spots for the restaurant size, but not alot of space to turn around in, if the drive through starts backing up. Something to keep in mind.
All in all, we all enjoyed our food and definitely would go back. I would probably try a few different...
Read moreSaw this finally opened and thought I would go check this out. Walking up the register the staff was nice....menus was well....Chicken. I opted for the 3+3 3 tenders and 3 wings combo with an added side of Mac and Cheese. Total $21.00 :(
1st - You only get one option for sauces for your tenders and you only get one cup of it. You are trying to compete with the Chic...we all know that it is and they allow you to have as many sauces as you want. Why not provide this option?
2nd - The food came and my first reactions was underwhelming. The tenders were small and the wings looked very anemic. They were...I got the Buffalo wings and all 3 of the wings were all bone and sauce. No meat? The wimpiest chicken wings I have ever eaten...7/11 has more meat on their wings. Just saying. Tenders were just okay. No seasoning and they were very small. They were cooked okay, but not super juicy and just way too small.
3rd - Meal comes with Fries...they were a little undercooked and seasoned okay. Nothing to be too impressed with. Also they throw in a few pieces of toasted bread. Thank you?
4th - Mac and Cheese - Going to keep it simple. SOGGY Noodles in white cream sauce. NO FLAVOR AT ALL. Reminds me of kid who never booked before who overcooked some macaroni noodles to the point all you do is taste boiled water and then took some cream sauce out of a can and warmed it up. Literally NO Seasoning at all. DO NOT waste you money.
I did not try the sandwiches but they looked okay? This is chain so they won't be making and changes based off my review. The interior is clean (its brans new), staff was nice, but the food is just not good. The location is also horrible and if they were smart would of opened up closer to the Jackson. I predict this place will only be open for no more than 2 years after enough of the local population out of curiosity come in to try and it figure out their is no value for their money here.
I know management will see this and respond in their corporate we are sorry etc...but I know if you plugged them into a polygraph machine and asked them if they think the quality is there that needle would we pointing towards the exit.
I will keep mt $21
Best of...
Read moreSo, I embarked on a journey to find a Raising Canes competitor because I tried Canes earlier this year for the first time in Canton Mi and I wasn't a fan. I went during their grand opening month. I found that there's pretty much 3 big dogs in the Chicken Tender space.
Number one being Raising Cane's. Number 2 being Zaxbys. I wanted to go there during my road trip to Atlanta but I didnt make it to Zaxbys, unfortunately. And rounding out last (3rd) place would be Slim Chickens. I've never even heard of this place. I found out they have one in Ann Arbor MI. So I took the drive to see what Slim is all about.
The tenders weren't EXTREMELY good but they are better than most. Which is a good thing. And in my opinion, they're definitely better than Cane's unseasoned Chicken and that terrible Cane's salad dressing dipping sauce. But the Tenders aren't better than Chick-fil-A in my opinion but Slim fries definitely are better Chicks.
I love that you can see the seasoning in the batter.
The wings were GREAT. I cant say for sure but I'm willing to bet the same Chicken that's served at Slim is from the same supplier that supplies Buffalo Wild Wings. Its like its the same wings. Even the Honey BBQ sauce taste the same. The Honey Mustard was fantastic. The lemon pepper was good but it needed more seasoning. Maybe it was just an off today.
Love the restaurant layout. Real southern feel. Even the exterior is nice. The whole place has a old but modern feel.
Toasted bread was good but Canes bread was GREAT. That's the only thing Canes have over Slim.
The Shake was basic. I ordered a Vanilla shake and Fanta Orange. Pop was strong and not flat. An undervalued Shake in my opinion is Burger King. Their Vanilla really really pops with flavor and very thick.
All in all a solid 4. Is Slim something that I will have a craving for, probably not. Will I stop in if I'm in the area, maybe. Which isn't a bad thing. But I do know where I'm not going ever again and that my friend is...
