I absolutely love the food here, but they messed up pretty good when I was here the other day. I placed my order online, and waited about 10 minutes before going to the restaurant so that I wouldn’t have to wait. A pet peeve of mine is waiting when I’ve ordered ahead, because the whole point is to be able to walk in, grab my food, and walk out. I will warm up my food at home again, just to avoid the waiting. But, when I got here, they hadn’t started my food. I was the only person in the place, the only name on the board. I appeared that someone started my food when I got there…but 20 minutes of waiting later, while watching two other people walking in and ordering at the counter, getting their food and leaving…I still didn’t have my food…and no one working there seemed to find that weird.
After thinking about it, thoroughly confused as to why this happened, I do think that first person made my food when I got there…and then someone else handed it to someone in the drive-thru. Sorry, drive-thru person, you probably really disliked my order, since I’m a really picky eater. What I don’t get is this…when I came up and wanted my money back, steam coming out of my ears at this point, why didn’t you just tell me what happened? Instead, you made it seem like you just hadn’t done it yet, and just didn’t care at all that I’d been sitting there for 30 minutes for food that is pre-made and just has to be put in the box and handed to me.
I ultimately decided to still get the food, since after I went up it was ready like a minute later. The only reason I still got it was because the thought of waiting another 20 minutes somewhere else was daunting. And, the food ended up being excellent, as always, and my order was done perfectly as I ordered it. I just wish it would have been done when I got there…or even 10 minutes after I got there. Because really, what’s the point of ordering ahead if you’re still not going to start it until...
Read moreFirst time here and came on a Tuesday night for dinner with my husband, perfect day for their taco Tuesday special (2.69 per taco any kind of meat). I tried the shredded chicken, sweet barbacoa pork and regular beef-all were good and super juicy! Not dry like a lot of places! Tacos are not small, they are good size tacos on tortillas pan fried with a little oil and were soft but not chewy and very good! Tacos held all of the fixings and didn't fall apart even with all that juicy meat, so savory, Pico and lettuce, cilantro, cheese, and paid a little extra for sour cream and guac although I would probably not need the extra charge because they would have been plenty flavorful without. Could have added a side of rice and black or pinto beans for $3 but this was so much food I decided better not. Guac is a little spicy just a heads up. Husband ordered the grilled chicken burro with black beans and rice (first burro here but second time here he's had their burrito bowl and says it was very good!) He was very impressed with the burro, likes this place a little more than Chipotle for its authenticity when you compare the two but they are both similar I would agree). I think you get more flavor and more for your money. All in all, it was $36 including two drinks-not bad when you break down what we paid for (receipt is attached). Recommend over Chipotle and definitely in general. Service is very nice, very quick, very open dining, everything was stocked,...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW: I fell in love with Cafe Rio and was going multiple times a week. I always gave 5 stars. Things have changed I had not been there because food and service dropped. Tonight I'm so frustrated. Customer service stinks. I order a quasdilla, 2 burros and 2 tacos. I was told I could only have 1 sour cream per order not per entrée. It's never been like that before. They seemed bothered because I had 4 entrées. I had a $50 gift card I purchased and gave it to them they told me I owed $47. I gave the gift card again they kept saying I needed cash or card. It took 2 employees and they kept arguing I needed money. I said that's what the gift card is for. They had to call a manager over and she had to tell them to push the gift card button. I don't know if it's poor training or what. I'm going to start going to Chipotle across the street they will give sour cream and extra salsa for less $$ and they are nice. We have a choice where we spend our $ at and I'm going to use my gift cards and not come back. They started out with such great customer service. That is no...
