If you have allergies, do NOT trust this place. I usually do not feel the need to leave bad reviews but I was very disappointed yesterday with Crust. My boyfriend and I went out to eat for his birthday and I have a wheat, nut, and tomato allergy so before even going there, we called to make sure their Alfredo sauce was wheat free (which I applaud them for having a gf alfredo sauce, not everywhere does). When we got there, I made sure with our waitress that the gluten free pizza crust was nut free as well and told her about my allergies and she reassured me that they have an amazing gluten free crust and they truly sounded like they care. Two big things: the manager (I believe it was the manager) brought us our food and asked if we needed anything else, we asked for parmesan, she brings us a parmesan container and the lid was disgustingly dirty with tomato sauce squished on it. I had my boyfriend touch the container, take the lid off, look inside to make sure it looked safe, and then he poured some on my pizza. I was then about to take a first bite, and noticed tomato sauce where the pizza cutter had touched. It wasn't just a little either, the tomato was in between every slice and very obvious which I am glad it was obvious because I would've gotten very sick. We also looked around, it was not busy when we arrived and we had the only two pizzas in sight so I found it safe to assume they used the same pizza cutter they used on a gluten containing tomato based pizza to cut my gluten free tomato free pizza. Double whammy and not food safe at all. I let the waitress know and she apologized and offered to have them remake it but once my trust is broken with a restaurant that seemed to understand me at first, that trust cannot be rebuilt. So I sat there and drank my drinks while my boyfriend enjoyed his birthday lunch alone. Our waitress asked the chef in the kitchen if he used the same pizza cutter which he replied that he couldn't remember. The manager came out and offered to get me a salad or anything else but I turned it down because I cannot trust this kitchen to care about allergies after I was very clear with my waitress to begin with. I was then offered the gluten free dessert which is chocolate peanut butter cake, a nut product, which made me feel quite uncomfortable as I noted at the beginning that that was an allergy. The waitress was very sweet, but terrible experience for someone with allergies and the manager did not even say that she would have a talk with the kitchen or ensure they would work on their knowledge of safe allergen-friendly food handling. I have worked in a kitchen before and I know allergies are difficult to deal with sometimes, but it is not that hard to use more precaution and cleanliness to ensure better safety. This was a slower early lunch time as well, if they had a packed house, I could see and understand the mistakes, but when there's not many people, these simple mistakes should not happen and are inexcusable. The nice waitress is the only reason this review is getting more than one star, the decorations were cute too, but that was about the only good thing we...
Read moreWhen we first entered, it wasn’t clear what to do or where to go until someone told us to sit wherever. After we ordered, we were asked to move to another table to make room for an incoming party of eight. While we were told we didn’t have to, it felt like we really didn’t have a choice. We were originally offered a comped meal, which was quickly backtracked into a free dessert as compensation.
The food itself was hit or miss. The mozzarella was excellent, but there was hardly any marinara. The whipped ricotta was completely overshadowed by burnt toast. The chicken Marsala was average at best, while the spicy rigatoni was the only dish that stood out.
The service was consistently below average. At one point, I had to get up and grab silverware from another table because our server was nowhere to be found. He seemed more focused on the party we were displaced for—even though they didn’t arrive until 30 minutes after we’d been moved. When he was at our table, he was polite, but it was obvious we weren’t a priority.
Dessert only highlighted the poor experience. The cannolis came wrapped in tinfoil, which felt cheap for a dine-in service. Since the restaurant uses the Toast system, we couldn’t see the bill before paying and had to ask for a receipt just to confirm the dessert had actually been comped. It hadn’t been—until we pointed it out.
The woman who asked us to move (presumably the manager) never checked in or thanked us for our flexibility. She only reappeared to show the dessert had finally been “taken care of,” still without an apology and with an unpleasant attitude. Our total was $113 for one of the most lackluster meals I’ve ever had.
Between the mediocre food, inattentive service, and dismissive management, this is not a restaurant I would ever recommend. I’ll be making a point to advise others to...
Read moreThis was the first time I have been to this establishment. In the beginning everything was fine. I have a dairy and egg allergy that makes me very sick. I told the server and the sever went and got the manager who also came over to ask about my allergies and went to the kitchen to make sure everything was good and what i could eat. I felt very comfortable about what i was eating. I chose the bruchetta pick 3, I read the ingredients and nothing had dairy. I got the mushroom with goat cheese. I ate everything and got to the last 2 pieces and realized it had provolone on it, it was buried under all the mushrooms. no where on the menu did it say that was part of it, I did eat a portion of it and yes I did get sick. I was extremely upset that after all the conversations with management it still came with dairy. The GM came over and aplogized then said the menu is changing and have not updated it, this is an extremely bad game to play with people's lives. They did comp my meal but in my opinion the whole check should have been. I felt gaslight and not understood. The rest of the night I was very sick over management negligence of making sure after coming over things were not right also with the server if this is your job you need to pay attention to detail so you don't end up ruining someone's night. I feel management needs to get some training. Bad first experience Do better Crust! Beware if you...
