Whenever we have family in town we have to go to Grassroots because it's our favorite! We love the Waldorf chicken salad but the first time we were here years ago we swapped the rotisserie chicken for chicken salad and have ordered it that way since! As a mom I couldn't be happier about their kids menu as well. They pick their main entree and then get a fruit, fries, and a cute coupon to go to the ice cream shop next door for a free scoop of ice cream! The kids love feeling like big kids handing over their coupon. If the ice cream shop isn't open when you go they get a brownie! This past weekend my cousin was in town and we both celebrated our birthday there. We got the usual chicken salad-salad (if you guys ever feel like naming it after us we have a pretty cool last name šŸ˜…) and it was as amazing as usual! The burrata was soooo good also! And we also got a slice of key lime pie to celebrate! Service was amazing and when we went to leave the server brought us these cute little gift boxes. It had tons of coupons for the other eateries in their restaurant group and two house seasonings! I've never seen a restaurant do this and I feel like that just sets them far apart! Thank you Grassroots! Excited to go back for my salad very soon šŸ˜…

Grass Roots – 2nd Visit This Week! Came back to Grass Roots for the second time this week- I'm sucker for any restaurant over a 4.5 on Maps. The menu delivers comfort food with a fresh, creative twist that keeps things interesting without trying too hard. We dined in, and while the food hit the spot, the temperature inside was a bit of a challenge. It was 81 degrees indoors, the patio doors where finally shut because it was already 88 outside—at 11am. It's definitely something to consider on warm days. Now, onto the good stuff: The Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad was beautifully done—fresh greens, well-seasoned tuna, and just the right balance of bold flavor and lightness. Loved the dressing! $28 The Farmer’s Vegetable Chopped Salad with blackened shrimp was hearty but not heavy, with perfectly cooked shrimp and a great mix of textures. Dressing is on the creamier side rather that a light vinaigrette. $28 The Green Chili Stew was rich, cozy, and full of flavor—definitely a highlight if you're craving something warm and comforting. BUT we each had two bites and could not finish due to the temperature inside the restaurant. $9 The service was great!

Ohh my!! The service and food was outstanding here! I loved the easy atmosphere but also the food was amazing! We had cocktails to start with - I had the special which was some lavender twist on a martini, which was soooo good! We got a warm bread basket while we looked at the menu and it came with oil, herbs and butter so we were both happy. I had the pork chop - it was amazing! The only thing I didn’t like or expect was string fries - Rosti would have accompanied this dish better :) We shared a chocolate toffee Brownie - I wish I had kept it to myself because all those mixed tastes of sea salt, vanilla and great Ghirardelli chocolate just exploded my taste buds! The fact that this is ā€œfarm to tableā€ all fresh food is testament as to why it tastes so good - we are going to make this a regular place to go so we can try everything they do lol. GO EAT HERE! - YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED ;)

I had great intentions of leaving a review more recent post experience and somehow got too busy so apologize to to Billy their bartender that night and the manager for my tardiness, but hopefully better late than never- . My husband and I were looking for a place to eat near where we were that was plant-based friendly and somewhat healthy or at least didn’t just serve french fries and plain salad as a plant-based option. Given where we were driving not wanting to make it an all night search or contemplation… I whipped out my phone and saw this place so we said why not? Upon entering my heart sank as there was no table seating and it looked like the wait was long -it was Saturday-and the place was small and super packed. All good signs for a great restaurant, but we were kinda starved so waiting wasn’t really an option if it was longer than 30 min. for bar or table - good thing we thrive on experience and I love a challenge to make plant-based eating work ANYWHERE. I can confidently say that every staff member that made contact with us from the hostess to the bartender Billy, was super friendly, accommodating and welcoming. We had a delicious chop salad that I don’t remember the name of, farm to table veggie platter, grilled asparagus and shoestring fries. I had the fresh lemonade and my husband had a recommended beer which he loved. The food ALL OF IT was amazing and very filling , the asparagus was huge, we had to modify our order a bit to make it all plant-based friendly but was never made to feel like we were making requests that were out of their boundaries or being high maintenance. I was glad we tried this place and we met and was served by Billy and the rest of the staff and will definitely be back with our son who is an omnivore so he can indulge in some of the foods that probably makes makes this place popular along with the seclusion. Go early or make reservations it’s definitely worth the...

🌟 5 Stars – A Hidden Gem with Heart in McCormick Ranch 🌟

Grassroots Kitchen & Tap is the kind of place that makes you slow down, savor, and reconnect—not just with great food, but with the people you’re sharing it with. Nestled near Marguerite Lake in McCormick Ranch, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed dinner followed by a sunset stroll.

We started with the Club House Salad, tossed in a creamy garlic dressing that was bold without overpowering—fresh, crisp, and beautifully balanced. Then came the Almost Famous Pork Chop, and it absolutely lived up to the name: apple cider-brined, topped with candied pancetta, and paired with shoestring fries that were addictively crisp. The Spitfire Chicken was equally impressive—juicy rotisserie-style with a smoky edge, served alongside a soulful New Orleans dirty orzo that added just the right kick.

Their wine selection is thoughtful and local, with plenty of options to complement the meal. You can tell they care about sourcing, not just for flavor but for community impact. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a touch of Southern charm in the decor and hospitality. Every detail—from the warm lighting to the attentive staff—feels intentional and genuine.

What stood out most? Grassroots is family-owned, and it shows. There’s a sense of pride and care in everything they do. It’s not just a restaurant—it’s a place that feels like it belongs to the neighborhood. Whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet dinner, it’s a space that invites connection.

Highly recommend for anyone who values great food, great people, and a place that...

Met a girlfriend here for lunch the other day. I'd not been and was thrilled to see Shrimp & Grits on the menu (it's one of my all-time favorite dishes).

There menu has a lot of yummy looking things - salads, apps, and entrees. It was almost hard to choose.

My GF has been there before and ordered the Club House salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed (and likely a regular order for her, as that's the type of salad she usually gets). While I was tempted to order the Short Ribs or Pork Belly app, I got the Shrimp & Grits. Like I said, it's one of my fave dishes, so had to order it. The menu says that it includes a 'tasso ham relish', I didn't know what to expect but went with it (because I LOVE Shrimp, Sausage, and Grits so was assuming it would be similar). The 'relish' portion included onions and peppers, they were good but wasn't a fan of this addition. The dish was good enough, but I'd likely not again it again unless I opted out of the relish and went with a more 'pure' southern version. The grits were VERY tasty!! Maybe next time I'll do the Short Ribs, they include the same grits.

The place was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful, and when I told her about my food sensitivities/allergies, the server was helpful and wrote it down to make sure that the dish did not include any of those items.

It's located in one of those centers that has a slew of businesses in it, which I hate because I always have a hard time finding the spot I'm looking for. This one is right on Hayden Road, so you see it as...
