Today felt like twilight zone at EGGstasy and it was the 2nd time we have left bewildered there. When we are near the area we always try to stop here. The menu is interesting, food is always average to good, and the ambiance is fun. Today we were greeted with kindness by the hostess. Since we did stand for a bit waiting however and my mom has a cane and her legs tire quickly we did request if we could take a closer table than she started to walk to. It is also easier of course with those needs to sit near the restroom. She was nice about that and rather quickly brought us water which is much appreciated in this crazy summer heat! After that however we sat for 15 minutes without any further acknowledgement. There only appeared to be one server so she was likely busy but she was moving slow and pushed past our table at least 6 times since the coffee bar was behind us and never so much as dropped her eye contact so we could grab her attention let alone said "hi...or be there soon." I have been a server. I understand and we are always patient. I am not upset if we needed to wait but there is never a reason to ignore a customer for 15 minutes walking right by them repeatedly. It would be impossible to claim we could not be seen. We left rather than keep being ignored when she started pre bussing plates off a table nearby rather than wait on us. There were lots of empty tables so no rush on cleaning one. There also seemed to be a floor manager or someone who looked to be that who walked by us twice avoiding eye contact. There was several minutes when that person just stood and visited with the hostess. I was starving and also really needed some caffeine. My mom is a daibetic and because of a doctor appt that morning we hadnt eaten and it was already about 2 pm. Last time we were there we had a similar feeling of poor/disorganized service but today was just plain rude. Maybe asking for a different table offended someone. It is hard to imagine any other reason we were treated so poorly. They onviously do not need or want our business so we...
Read moreVisiting town from Los Angeles for the weekend so we wanted to have a great breakfast before flying home. I have been to many different breakfast and brunch locations throughout Scottsdale and have been to other locations of Eggstasy. Brunch this morning was pretty good although there were some hiccups. Parking is extremely easy as it’s in a shopping center with plenty of available spaces. We arrived at about 10 for breakfast and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated.
They have a very large menu with a lot of options, which is one of my favorite parts of this restaurant chain. Today our server was very polite and did a great job. However, we were a table of three and two of our dishes came out and then the last dish came about 15 minutes after the other two. The third and late dish was just pancakes, so I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen but pretty much everyone at the table was finishing up their meal when the last breakfast arrived.
I chose the Crispy Prosciutto Benedict and added avocado. Overall, it was pretty good although the eggs were not poached well as the eggs were not runny, they were more over hard as the yolk did not run at all, and was more like a hard boiled egg. Also, the prosciutto was good although it was overly salty. I am half Italian and I’ve been eating prosciutto my entire life and this was definitely one of the saltier versions I’ve had in a long time. Finally, the hashbrowns are not crispy, they are more like chopped potatoes so in the future I guess I will ask for extra crispy hashbrowns.
Overall a pretty good breakfast, but could definitely have been better. I will most likely choose another item to order next time, even though Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish. However, this version fell a little short so I would recommend the restaurant, but would not recommend ordering...
Read moreThis place was wonderful! Our server was Erin (I think?) and she was awesome! Great menu recommendations and a wonderful personality. We had a large party of 9 and were able to make a reservation. They were very accommodating. My father-in-law had made the reservation originally for 8:30am, but some of our party were not keen on getting there that early. So he was able to call the morning of and change it to 10am. The food was fantastic! All of their egg dishes come with hashbrowns and your choice of fruit, toast or you can upgrade to a specialty pancake, crepe or blintz for $2. I got the Corned Beef Hash with Hashbrowns and a Berry Blintz (Erin's recommendation). At first when the Corned Beef Hash came out it looked like it was the canned version, which is always disappointing for me. But after eating some, it tasted like real corned beef in there. Maybe they mixed can and fresh? I didn't examine too closely, it was too delish to bother with that. ;) My Mixed Berry Blintz did not disappoint! The serving sizes were good sized. I couldn't finish all of my hash and hashbrowns, but did finish that blintz! Five of our party ordered a Bloody Mary. In addition to the skewer full of bell peppers and olives, there was a strip of Chocolate Covered Bacon in each glass. Sounded a little strange but it was pretty tasty. My mother-in-law ordered a Cinnamon Roll Pancake for her side. I didn't try it, but from the reactions of those that did, I have to guess that it was just as good as a real cinnamon roll or better. If you're in the Scottsdale area, EGGstasy is definitely worth trying out! They also serve Lunch. I'm not sure...
