I had an awful craving for Thai food. After driving to one Thai restaurant and discovering that it was closed, I decided to visit Thai House On Shea. I walked in, stopped at the counter and waited... and waited... and waited. The phone was steady ringing. As I waited to be seated, I noticed a large party of about 12ppl, a family of about 5, and a couple occupying a table. I waited so long that I looked at the menu and chose exactly what I wanted to eat. Finally, a young guy walked up and asked me if he could help me. I told him a table for one. I had my pick of the remaining tables. He led me to the table and proceeded to get my drink order. I ordered hot tea and a cup of Tom Yum soup. He brought a glass of water to the table. Later, he returned to get the rest of my order... which was a shrimp and chicken salad. About 10 minutes, my soup was at the table. It was very good! Hot; spicy to my liking... just perfect! It was a delicious peanut curry sauce, with strips of beef and chunks of white potato. Some sauteed button mushrooms would have been divine, but I'll keep that recipe in my pocket for now. I think I'll call my version: Mush-sa-rum.
I already have a twinsie, so I opted for their green curry over an "I'll take that as well". It was every bit as delicious as my first green curry, so dont worry, Murray. All arrived at the table with a large bowl of sticky rice. After spooning both curries over my starch, my chop stick skills impressed my hiking partner so much, that she commented "Why dont you just use a fork"
I would love to come back and try a noodle dish, or a Tom Kha, or some egg rolls. The food was wonderful, portion sized generous, and the kids working didnt hassle us for hanging around and carrying on for...
