I had a great lunch at Happy's. I feel like they can work out a few rough spots in their service though. Double Cheeseburger: Was quite delicious, reminded me of an elevated White Castle burger, which is a good thing...also I'm a native Phoenician who has only eaten at White Castle burger a few times. Hot Dog: The dog was great, bun was typical. I thought it would be steamed or something but it seemed room temperature and standard Ballpark bun. I like my hot dogs mustard only so I could do without the sides of sweet relish and diced onions. But that also makes the plate look awful plain so maybe they are needed for presentation? Tots: Perfect. When I arrived, I waited a good 3-5 minutes before being greeted, which was fine because I spent my time looking over the menu and was ready to order by time the server met me. This ended up being kind of awkward. As I tried to order I was given a menu and asked to take a seat. I saw a couple other customers try to order at the counter but then asked to take a seat if they were dining in. Maybe a sign would help. The presentation is to order at the counter but it's actually table service if you're eating there. I'm definitely a condiments guy so as a new customer I would have loved to hear about their goodies fridge. It wasn't mentioned. I stole some Happy's sauce out of there anyways, but felt kinda guilty. I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't find out about the restaurant on Yelp. Anyways, this should be a huge selling point because it's a great idea. The cook or owner made a point to come over and give me a run down on how he sources his hot dogs which was a huge plus. And as I left the server gave a very friendly good bye. I'll...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying this burger joint, but it did not hold up to my expectations at all. Upon arrival, the girl at the front was not super friendly and seemed unhappy to be working or that there was a customer. I ordered anyway and decided to eat in the diner. The counter girl said to have a seat anywhere, and when I turned around, I was a little shocked as there were only one or two tables I could have sat at, not because they were taken by other customers but because they were filthy. The tables were never cleaned up from previous diners, and it seemed like that food had been out for a very long time. None of the tables were cleaned up while I was there, and I felt like I was eating in filth the whole time. Not just because the tables had old food and napkins all over them but because the entire restaurant was just dirty, and it did not make me feel comfortable thinking about what the kitchen would look like if the dining room were this filthy. The food itself was not great either. By the time my burger made the short trip from the kitchen to my table, my bottom bun was utterly soggy and not edible. The patty was alright, what I would expect from a smash-style burger, but far from “the best burger” I did enjoy the fries.
Overall I would not visit again and would not...
Read moreMy wife and i were looking for a good hamburger at a place that two young girls would appreciate as well. We had never been to Happy’s although we live in the neighborhood but thought we’d give it a try. The food, the service and the atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. The homemade chips were the absolute best, the burgers were hot, fresh and flavorful. The onion rings were second to none. Our waitress Kelly went out of her way to make sure our experience was enjoyable. Mark the owner stoped by our table multiple times to check on us and bring sampling’s if some house favorites. Try the homemade cheesecake, you won’t be sorry. Our 12 year old has declared it her new favorite restaurant, this is a big deal since she hasn’t changed favorites in the past 5 years. If you want a very good burger served in a comfortable environment provided with a level of service that seemingly no longer exists in our mega chain fast food, fast service...
