My first visit to this place was good. We enjoyed our food, and although in my opinion it's a bit overpriced - it's in downtown Scranton so what do you expect. What I didn't expect was the uncanny valley atmosphere of the place. It's not hollow corporate, it's not upscale dining, it's not family-style: it tries to be all at once and ends up none of them. To be fair, we were seated almost immediately, I figured a couple during rush brunch would wait a while.
When we first sat down at my second visit, we did not immediately know what we wanted. So we waited ten minutes to be asked to place our order again. It was Sunday brunch time, nothing unexpected. We weren't given any napkins when we sat. Their sweet tea is just Brisk in a glass (eww). Our food took so long to arrive, I made it to go after 45 minutes and still waited ten more for it to be handed to me. A couple sat next to us after the we had already placed our order and got our food before us. The ingredients of the breakfast burrito were not well spread - unless you like all your avocado in one end of your tortilla. My burger was cooked wall to wall despite me asking for medium rare - no pink. The French fries taste cheap, like school cafeteria fries. Mine were soft but maybe they just didn't travel well. In our hour there for a two item brunch, we were visited by our server maybe four times at most. My girlfriend ordered a drink from the coffee list (it didn't have coffee - it was matcha, and we had to request extra because there was none in it when we first got it), it wasn't mixed, very syrupy, and overall just not an enjoyable product.
If I got a gift card to this place I would try to resell it for a loss because there are better places to spend your money for better results. There's literally an avocado toast meal. Think it...
Read moreI don't want to hate on this place so I gave it three stars. I've lived in the area for a little over 3 years and I've given this place numerous chances. They don't read the order receipt properly. I've ordered a breakfast panini multiple times and when I say they only got it right twice I mean it. They never press the sandwich and just throw it on whatever bread. Don't have the panini option online if you aren't going to make it that way. I refuse to eat inside there because the waitresses are rude and pretend you aren't there. There is one hostess who is friendly but always seems overwhelmed since the place is so busy. I think they are trying to do too much at once between in door dining, pick up orders, doordash and Uber orders. If you can't handle the increased orders, don't use those services. They had my dasher waiting over 30 minutes and I finally had to call. The hostess was sweet and apologetic though. My suggestion is tell your cooks to read the whole receipt for online orders because it will stop...
Read moreMy first time going to downtown deli was phenomenal. The service was great. The food came out fast, but since I have been a DoorDash delivery driver every time I come in for an order it is late and they have helped several people ahead of me that have not even paid yet. It has gotten so bad that I decline Orders from downtown deli which just makes my rating go down and the person who already paid for their food and for their service have to wait longer because nobody is going to want to pick up orders from this place because it’s a waste of everybody else’s time and money. I don’t know if y’all are just understaffed or don’t prioritize orders, but and several other people who frequently DoorDash here noticed this major problem with your business. You are going to start losing more business than what comes through your door if you do not do something...
