I go out to eat frequently and like to vary my dining experiences. Waterfront dining is always fun and living near the Texas coast, we have several options. One restaurant that isn’t just waterfront but is right on the water is Barge 295.
Barge 295 is situated on Clear Lake, just southeast of downtown Houston. This restaurant is unique in that it is a floating restaurant. That makes it perfect for people who really love the water and all it has to offer. You can feel the boat moving as you eat and drink for a true dining at sea experience.
This restaurant consists of two levels. I try to go to the top level when I visit and I prefer the outdoor section because it’s great for viewing the lake. There are places where boaters can dock and grab a bite to eat, too. You can’t escape the aquatic atmosphere at Barge 295, and that is one of its main appeals.
With food, Barge 295 serves seafood, as expected, with fried shrimp, fish and shrimp tacos, and Shrimp Po Boy ranking among the favorites. But there is much more on the menu than just seafood. They also serve burgers, wings, chicken sandwiches, salads, and assorted appetizers like loaded tator tots and nachos. The food here is generally good, even though the options are limited. And they earn a passing grade for their beer selection, which includes a few hard- to- find craft beers.
Waterfronts add to any dining experience. Dining directly on the water is even more interesting and Barge 295 is a cool place to rock on the water while you sip on your favorite drink and nibble on bar and grill style grub. It’s one of the few floating restaurants around and one I recommend for your...
Read moreRead moreSeveral negative clues such as being cluttered, cleanliness, and the overall atmosphere and most of the employees of the Barge was a little depressing in regards to the customers enjoyment experience . All employees in any organization are the heartbeat of a buiness that supply the overall image and enjoyment experience of any buisiness.. All patrons should feel important and excited to be part of the businesses scheme of entertainment from opening gl to close. I will close this rating with some constructive suggestions and also with an important question: Does the: "Dog Wag The Tail"? ...or does the: "Tail Wag" The Dog? If a dog is happy it wags it's tail :)..The customer is the dog and the buisiness is the tail...IN THE ENTERTAINMENT WORLD THE TAIL DOESNT WAG THE DOG! ( JUST ASK THE EXEXUTIVES AT BUD LIGHT)..LOL Make patrons feel important and develop a buisiness atmosphere that is a positive experience that will enable each and everyone of "The Barge" patrons to enjoy a: "WARM & FUZZY EXPERIENCE" AND YOUR FIZ" BIZ" WILL EXPLODE WITH PROFITS! 5/22/2018 Previous review I have to say I love the Barge. The food and service has always been top notch (You really have to try the Thai Crawfish when they are in season) and the view of Clear Lake is amazing. Even on the hottest of days the breeze coming across the lake helps keep you cool.
On the weekends they have live music on the upper deck. This past weekend they had a pig roast luau. We had the platter and everything was top notch, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, the roast pork was delicious and the macaroni had pineapple mixed in, a cool twist. The dance performers were engaging and very entertaining.
I do have two small complaints. The first is that we always get overcharged, be sure to check your receipt. One example is that they advertise Red Strip on special for $3 and it always rings up as $4. The other issue is the parking lot, if your car is clean when you arrive it will not be when you leave. They have a dirt lot, expect your car to be covered in thick layer of dust.
So if you are looking for an enjoyable evening on the lake and your car is already in need of a wash I highly...
