We are big fans of Jimmy K’s diner at 83 Plaistow Rd in Haverhill, MA. The service is top notch, very friendly, and the food is fresh and delicious.
Our experience at Jimmy K’s diner at 264 Lafayette Rd in Seabrook, NH was surprisingly different.
From the moment we walked in, there was very low energy from the staff and not one person was smiling or welcoming. I was going to say something, but then I thought “maybe someone has just passed away?” or something like that. It was palpable and rather shocking for a restaurant business.
A tall, young man seated us, was walking in ultra slow motion and was frowning the whole time. That should have been our first red flag.
The hubs ordered a salad. I forgot to take a pic. It was mostly white lettuce. He ate it but wasn’t impressed.
I ordered a beef barley soup, which had neither beef nor barley, but did have a nice flavor. I also ordered a turkey dinner wrap, with turkey, stuffing and cranberry. It came with a “small” Cole slaw and pickles. Both of which were forgotten by the kitchen or server. I asked for them and they were delivered. The Cole slaw was tiny! It was in the smallest ketchup type cup you’ve ever seen, but that was Ok, since it really didn’t taste great. The pickles were good. The wrap, which was served no frills and plain on the plate & was very dry. There was barely any cranberry. It really could have used something to moisten it a little like mayo. That would have added moisture and some salt. It had so little flavor I had to add salt.
Our server was attentive, but never smiled until she handed us the bill and said have a nice day.
All in all, it was very odd. We must have caught it on a bad day? IDK, but we have no desire to rush back. I hope whatever was making them all so unhappy has passed. Even the older lady clearing tables was glaring...
Read moreI took my dad here for breakfast one Sunday morning. My dad being very proud to serve his country always wears his Korean War hat. We were seated quickly to our table. As we were looking over the menu a young man maybe late 20's early 30's politely tapped my dads shoulder and thanked him for his service and shook hsnds. My dad was in 7th heaven! We enjoyed breakfast. When it was time to receive the check the waitress came over and said a young man paid for your meal! Dad was the happiest and proudest man that day. As for the young man, I saw he was at the table having his breakfast and I stopped and thanked him with a smile and hand shake and told him you have no idea the joy you brought to my dad thank you so much! We love Jimmy K's not only for the incredible people who wait to be seated but the food...
Read moreI do wish that I could say this place was great, but I can't. me and my dad came in when it wasn't busy just to get some food and try this place out. there was maybe 6 or 7 tables that had people at most and 3 people at the bar. most of these people already had their food or it was on the way. we waited a good 20 minutes for food, which isn't horrible! the food was good but they did forget some little things but thats not why we were upset with this place. We waited 30 minutes just for someone to ask if we needed our check. and then we had to wait another 10 minutes just for them to give back the card. service wasn't very great their at all but I do have to say their food is good. I don't know if it was just an off day for them but our first experience was not great. we'll try again and hopefully...
