On our way to Houston, my son and I were looking to get something to eat happen to see this place near us and decided to try it out. We were looking for a quick bite and to get on our way. Never been to a fast food type buffet joint, let alone a fried chicken buffet, so wasn’t sure what to expect. Upon pulling up, the place looked a run down from the outside so we were a little concerned and there was like one car in the front. It was 3pm on a Friday afternoon so I wasn’t expecting many people or really fresh offerings. Upon walking in, we were promptly greeted by a very friendly cashier. The place is small and the buffet table is small but it takes up most of the dining space. We were given some styrofoam plates and headed to the buffet. I was pleasantly surprised, the food looked really good, and as we first started looking to see what we wanted, an employee came over and pointed out some of the items, and asked if there was anything specific we needed. The food was fresh and they’d refill anything we may have needed. Stand outs were the chicken tenders, the rolls, the red beans and rice. They had fried gizzards and liver if you’re into that. Chicken and dumplings soup was good. Fried catfish was fresh and the regular fried chicken was good too. The Mac and cheese wasn’t to great, but the macaroni salad and Cole slaw were good. Long story short, the food was good and fresh, surprisingly at 3pm on a Friday. I’d definitely go back if I’m driving through. If your really hungry you’ll definitely get your moneys worth. $13 and change for the buffet which...
Read moreThis was definitely the WORST experience in my entire dining experience. I tried to rate them on Trip Advisor but they did not show up, I know why! Right when we walked in, I wanted to leave. We had a long drive home (several hours) and I did not want to stop again. It stunk so bad and was so dirty. The lady at the register was so rude and she even overcharged me. After I called her out on it and told her that my children were not adults and should not be charged as adults, she looked at the manager as if I were lying and had her change the price. The price we were charged was not even worth it. It was during the rush lunch hour and there was an employee eating in the dining area. It was really small in there and this was a large man that took up an entire table himself. If he wanted to eat, he should have eaten in the back and not taken up "over paid customers" place to sit and there were several families standing. After this employee got seconds on food and he was finished eating, he went to the back and didn't even wash his hands. Other employees came out and got food off of the buffet and was eating right in view of customers. I will never go to this place again and I will tell my family that live in the area to not go there either. There was not a clean place to sit and eat at all. We had to clean our own place to sit. The floor had so much food on it that it was...
Read moreThe chicken experts. From baked to fired to gizzards and livers. Every item is top-notch. Look forward to going there and seeing the same friendly faces.
Update: My husband got off work late and it was my 50th birthday, so we opted not to go to H-town traffic and celebrate my birthday close to home.
Something’s different. More organized, kept and organized. And the vibe is lighter, more energetic.
Huy’s cs was incredible. He was so eager to accommodate. He paid close attention to the selection and here’s something unique:
Since the Chinese Buffett is closed on Monday’s he crafts Asian selections. Sunday’s noodle options. Friday’s - Fajitas
And broccoli and cheese option another day, but I forgot which one.
If you haven’t been here in a while, it’s definitely worth the trip to check it out
And thank you Huy for making my dining experience awesome.
That’s...
