Food was excellent. Service was not. I do not eat meat due to dietary restriction and I ordered meatless pupusas. The other person I was with ordered meat pupusas. First we had the wrong order & sent one of the plates back to the kitchen. That’s fine it happens - but Our pupusas were mixed up on the plate and could tell because of the variation of color. I had to stop the waitress TWICE to ask her which was which because they were mixed up. The first time I asked her she just pointed and said -this is meat this is not meat, walked away when I wasn’t done confirming which was meat and which didn’t have meat. So I called her over the second time. She got it wrong again & walked away again. So I had to cut up all the pupusas to make sure which ones were mine and the other persons. They were not busy.
The pupusas themselves were delicious. But I won’t be returning because the waitress was horrible and uncommunicative. Again- they were not crazy...
Read moreWorst tacos I've ever had (at a restaurant). Came in for carne asada tacos and there were so many problems. First, the meat was really bad, he took it and threw it in the microwave and then just dropped it on a tortilla. It was dry, the consistency was like old roast beef and WAY to spicy (along with a lot of fatty pieces). Second, was the tacos themselves, no cilantro, SO much spice and little flavor and the tortilla tasted old along with the vegetables. Finally, the service was weird, everyone kept staring at me and I felt very unwelcome and all the chef and other employee(?) were obsessed with a football game on (soccer) which is probably why my tacos were bad. Price was so-so, $5 for two, but I can get cheaper and FAR better tacos other places (California Tacos Grill / La Tortuga...
Read moreHaving lived in El Salvador for two years, I can testify to the authenticity of this place. I could tell as we walked in and heard the music playing louder than the typical American joint that this place is authentic. We ordered horchata and pupusas and they did not dissapoint. The Salvadorian horchata is the most authentic I've had since being back in the states and the pupusas are amazing without being too costly. Another way I could tell this restaurant is authentic is that the server began talking to us in Spanish (even though we don't necessarily look like we speak it). Don't let this discourage you though if you haven't brushed up on your español since our waiter switched to English when we didn't...
