Like going to a liquor store in a rough neighborhood. The location is great. My experience: We stayed one night as family trip. The floor was dirty and sticky stuff on it like soda or something some sort of sugar and water all over it. They only give you one key for your room. They have Keurig coffee machines and as you know, they are all plastic and keep old water in the tank. We stay away from these machines. The beds are comfortable, but the pillows are hard like a rock. My wife and I woke up with neck pain the next day. The worst: there is no customer service in the front desk. In fact, they are rude. When you come to them and you say good morning, they don't answer you back. The old lady seems bitter and has an attitude. She doesn't ask for things, she demands things from you. She says "ID!" The old guy does the same thing. There is an office, but it's locked. They only use a small wall window. If you have a family, don't send your kids to the office. They are rude and will yell at your kid if they come ask a question. I believe in diversity in this country, but if you work in customer service, you should learn to be respectful, have manners, and try to be friendly. This is what happened to Quizno's and Subway. No one wants to go...
Read moreCheck-in and out was a breeze. We had a guaranteed 1st floor room, because I was recovering from surgery and couldn’t climb stairs. We liked that parking was right in front of our room.
Our room was right next to the laundry, which wouldn’t have been a problem except that a pipe burst late at night and people were freaking out, trying to stem the flow of water, banging on the door and other things in that room. It sounded like they were IN our room with us! We peeked out a few times to ask them to please keep the noise down, and they did for a few minutes, but then it was back to the noise. Other than that the room and bed were comfortable and clean. The TV channels were great! We also really liked the mini-fridge that had an actual freezer compartment!!!
Sad thing is I left my hand magnifying mirror when we left. So sad about that. I’m not sure if we’d stay here again in the future? Maybe if we were guaranteed a room away from the laundry. It was actually really convenient to Monterrey, Carmel and Big Sur. Saved a lot of money staying here versus...
Read moreFine for one night if you’re on a budget, but next time, I’ll probably spend $50 more for a better hotel. Location is good. Felt like a safe part of town. Nearby several big box stores and chain restaurants (Target, Lucky grocery store, McDonalds, Wing Stop, etc.). About 10 minutes away from Cannery Row and Downtown Monterey. Check in was quick, but I had to check in at a window because the lobby was locked. I arrived midday. Don’t know if this is a covid precaution, but it made me feel unwelcome. The room was clean and updated. I still think it could have used a deep clean, like shampooing the carpets and wiping down walls, headboards, etc. All of the metalware in the bathroom (toilet paper holder, soap dispensers) was completely rusted, which made me uncomfortable touching it. The room was spacious. Had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker which I appreciated. It had a little balcony which was cute, though the view was the highway and Costco. Comfy bed. Other guests were respectful, not loud at all. Overall, it was fine, but I probably...
