[Edit]So, we were out and about in town the other day and decided to go to Grocery Outlet in Seaside (in the mall with FedEx and Chase bank) and do our weekly shopping early. so I got my shopping cart and started to do our weekly shopping when I needed to use their facilities (toilet) so I looked and couldn't remember where the facilities were so I asked at checkout and he says "their broken, they've been broken for a couple days but let me ask", so he gets on his walkie talkie and says "a customer would like to use the restroom " and the voice on the other end says "tell them it's broken and we're still waiting on a repair person" and so I left my basket near the front door as we walked out to go shopping somewhere that had a proper facility for patrons as I didn't feel it appropriate to just pee on their floor and as we were leaving a customer had overheard my partner and I grumble about it while leaving the store and she says "what? Are they all peeing in a bottle in the back" We had a laugh but it did make me think while at Smart & Final, what were the employees doing for a facility there? I refuse to shop that branch anymore and in general the chain now for lack of providing clean serviceable washroom facilities.
It's sad when they can't provide a working washroom for paying customers whether they are spending $0.59 or $5,000 a year. It was only on our previous visit that we finally noticed that many things that are lower priced are oddball items like turkey sandwich meat flavored with chipotle on sale for $5.99 regularly $7.99 elsewhere (says the sticker on the shelf & to be honest, I've never seen chipotle flavored turkey sandwich meat sold at Safeway, Lucky's or any other major chain in the area) or items that could be expiring tomorrow or next week, you're not really saving here anymore. CHECK YOUR EXPIRATION DATES FOLKS! We avoided buying expired items or items that showed they expired in 2 days many a time by checking the expiry dates.[END EDIT]
They are no longer less than regular markets on most staples items like bread and milk etc. They use to have really good prices and of course you took the chance that what they have today they may not have tomorrow which was worthwhile for the low prices but since it's now the same prices as the local Safeway or Lucky's is not really worth going there anymore.
Definitely not worth going there to do your regular weekly grocery shopping as they are far to limited in what they carry. For example no or little healthy cereals but plenty of off brand sugary cereals that didn't sell in regular grocery stores, think Captain crunch peanut butter cereal vs them selling Pirate Roberts sweet puffs etc.
And when you do find something good, it's likely to be the same price as any other store and not likely to be seen their again in the future. We recently found lightly breaded chicken breasts for $10.00 ($17.99 found elsewhere says the sign) but on subsequent visits it was gone, not just empty shelf, but gone and replaced with an other non related product. And if you're expecting to find your favorite "Mega Bowl frozen dinner" you may be looking for the flavor of pizza toppings without the crust, but only find some off flavored Mega Bowl that doesn't sell...
Read moreI arrived at the store the doors were wide open. There were cars in the parking lot so I went inside for agallon of milk. And I was told to leave the store because they were closed. The doors were open, there cars in the parking. I must have had slightly confused look on my face. I'm very disappointed in the selective way they allow customers to enter. I know I look like a bum. Its evening on a tuesday. Im usually better dressed than this but I ran pit in a hurry so my son had milk in tbe am. Grocery outlet is cheap and easy, right?
I intend to call management and corporate that sending the wrong message by keeping the door is open is another way of having poor customer service. Along with poor customer service I got simply an apology an empty one at that. I know it's late but jeez really guys? Why the double standard. I walkef past a guy leaving. Oh well. So in the future if you intend on shopping at Grocery Outlet Bargain Market I highly recommend you question your decision and go somewhere else if you arrive at the store past 9 while the doors are wide open and cars in the parking lot. Don't be confused that is it open, for you will be turned away at the door in the most loving fashion sarcasm...
Read moreYou refused to give my mother another case of water for $3.50 when she accidentally left it in a basket outside. She is 67 years old and spends hundreds of dollars monthly at your store. Your employees and manager know her very well and still you refused to give her another seltzer water when she had the receipt! Instead you thought it was best to show her mistake and embarrass her. While you’re showing her the security cameras on your phone what about the tapes of your parking lot? Oh you won’t show that because the policy “once you walk out of the store we are not responsible for your items” such a shame. She even double checked with Safeway up the street to see if Grocery Store rules have changed and no they were so shocked and appalled they gave her a free one. My mother has been advocating for your store because the true reputation Grocery Outlet of Seaside is actually known for expired food and produce. So good luck she won’t be coming back nor will we be emailing anyone. Please don’t even respond because you should of had that attitude in...
